I will NEVER be going back. In the last month I have went to 417 Athletics on four separate occasions. I do not have a single good thing to say about this place. The individual they have running 417 athletics is extremely unprofessional. I will NEVER be going back. I also would never recommend paying to have your kid or self play in any tournaments there. We have been threatened to get kicked out 3 out of the 4 times I have been there. Always by the “clearly not experienced” individual in charge. During the last game I will ever play in 417 athletics the man in charge was sitting at the score table. I was on my bench with my teammate and I told my teammate that was all ball on a foul the refs called. I did not say that to the ref or the individual in charge. I did not even raise my voice, but the man in charge of the tournament over heard me at the scores table and decided to start arguing back in forth. If I’m not mistaken I was informed 3 different times in that argument that he’s played professional basketball. He’s a current ref. Clearly trying to get the point across he is on a higher level than myself. We quit arguing and I go check in.... up until this point in time I was just annoyed with how things were ran but it wasn’t that big of a deal. Then the next time I check in, I air ball a three, the individual in charge started in at me again while I was playing. So much that the ref called a time on the game and the individual in charge storms on the Court and threatened to kick me out if I didn’t wanna play basketball even though he clearly engaged with me in game when I air balled the three. At this point when he threatened to kick me out I just said fine give me my 30 dollars and I will. He ignored I said that and walked back to the score table . Once again politely informing me i was nothing compared to him and his basketball achievements. I finished that game because he wouldn’t give me my 30 dollars back. After the game 3 separate players from different teams that witnessed the incident came up to me and told me they had also been treated horribly by the individual running 417 athletics. This is the first place I have ever google reviewed, so I hope that puts into perspective how bad my...
Read moreThe facility was great. Beautiful courts, nice area to sit in the middle between games, and clean bathrooms. These are the reasons it gets as many stars as they did. We were there for a one day (12 hours worth) volleyball tournament. That’s not the complaint. The volleyball was good. Leadership of this business was not. I’m ok with the no outside food, but if you are going to dig in your heels when these kids don’t need greasy concession stand food between games, please provide a spot to sit (even outdoors) to eat outside food. There is no time to leave with the kids due to reffing and short turnaround time. I watched the people who ran the tournament berate multiple people and tell them if they had outside food that “the sun was shining and they could go sit on the ground outside.” She also blocked the entrance and screamed at a young man and his mother when they tried to enter with Subway. She then walked the arena yelling at anyone who didn’t follow one of their rules. I’m ok enforcing, but the woman was very unkind. I’ve always been told you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. This was a lesson she needed today. Towards the end of the day our girls had waited 2 1/2 hours for the bracket to start (couldn’t leave because of reffing). We tried to go to a vacant court to start warming up and she yelled at our girls because the employees were sweeping. She then stood at our court during the championship match, overruling the referee multiple times and glaring at us during the match. Highly unprofessional and downright rude. The tournament itself wasn’t bad, and as I said, the facility was great. She, though, needs a lesson in public relations. She left a sour taste with...
Read moreGiving only 2 stars for 3 reasons: horrible parking, no public WiFi & 5 team pools in volleyball!!! The parking is ridiculous. Unless you are here at 7am for a tournament expect to park far away, in the grass, on the street, in the mud, etc.
There are 100’s of us in a big metal building with no cell phone service & no WiFi! Parents sit there for hours watching & waiting between games not being able to work, scroll social media or contact the outside world! Good luck getting a text or call to go through!
And last but not least, 5 team pools on one court in volleyball tournaments. That means 10 games on one court before bracket play even starts! That makes for too long of a day & too much sitting around & waiting. You could easily be there for over 12 hours for a volleyball tournament! It’s ridiculous! I firmly believe 5 team pools should be outlawed! That’s how strongly I feel about it! 🤪 Also, this is what contributes to the parking problem. There are entirely too many teams & too many people! Overall, 417 is a nice facility with nice people, but these negative things always make my day of watching my daughter play a sport that she loves a LOT less enjoyable. So, instead of complaining to my husband every time we come here, I decided to write a review. It seems to me that adding public WiFi & and putting a max of 4 teams per court would solve most of the issues and you’d have a lot happier...
