KeenBean Coffee Roasters — Restaurant in Mount Vernon

Stayed in Mt Vernon to catch a few hours of sleep while driving from Illinois to Texas. Was discouraged that there seemed to be a lack of coffee chains around my hotel. BUT! I found this place and it called to me like a savior beacon! I didn't go in expecting anything, I just needed something other than gas station coffee to kick off the second half of my drive.

But, what I found when I arrived was an adorable local coffee shop. I walked in and the women behind the counter were incredibly nice. I told them I was just driving through the area and they asked about my trip and where I was from while my drink was being made. I ordered an Iced Americano. Wanted to experience the actual taste of their beans instead of a sugary drink. But I wanted a bit more kick than a regular drip coffee. It was an awesome Americano that definitely packed a punch. I felt that go straight to my brain with the first sip! Delicious and strong? Sign me up! I also grabbed a blueberry muffin to go with it because they are my weakness. They definitely don't short you on the blueberries! It was such a delight!

So, thank you to those wonderful ladies for making my entire morning by hooking me up with a great Americano and a delicious muffin. And the kind banter was a wonderful bonus! I'll definitely be stopping in again whenever I am...

A sweet little spot in Mount Vernon, a minute from I-44 with outstanding coffee in a welcoming atmosphere. Plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating, and a drive-through. Very kind, helpful, friendly staff who offer recommendations from their menu with a wide variety of drinks and food items (see menu pics). Nice atmosphere for a meeting with friends, business or just enjoying personal time to think, journal or read. A small shop inside with shirts & various items. Keen Bean offers wall space to promote local artists / paintings, also for sale. Was happy to see them supporting another great local business, Elder Farms / Noble Berry, with Keen Bean selling organic elderberry products grown & packaged right in the Mount Vernon countryside. This coffee shop is a true gem and sets the standard for what other coffee shops could be if they had the heart, art and vibes this place has.

The coffee is exceptional, and the baristas skilled and just so friendly. The folks here offer a wide range of options, including delicious vegan drinks and snacks.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming for both employees and customers. Regardless of which one you might be, they seem to treat everyone like family (Thank you Tracy for taking care of my aunt Janet).

There are plenty of cozy spots both inside and outside, perfect for relaxing or getting some work done with their reliable WiFi.

Wish there were more locations like this in TX but little treasures like this are their own unique thing and can’t be duplicated.
