Dr Amy has restored my ability to enjoy an active lifestyle! A former Marine, I still enjoy staying fit through activities like running, skiing, hiking, kayaking, etc. To my dismay, several back injuries sustained over the years finally caught up with me. I noticed my running ability deteriorate to the point where, in the middle of a track workout, I literally ground to a halt and could no longer cycle my legs at any speed beyond a walk. My gym workouts too suffered from diminished power, flexibility, and range of movement. Thankfully, a friend and gym-owner/trainer referred me to Dr A and Path of Life Chiropractic. During the initial evaluation she took the time to get to know me and my history that had brought me here. This included x-rays and other scans to set a baseline for monitoring and measuring my progress, although my increased mobility in itself was evidence enough and I was soon back running trails and participating and physically challenging myself in the activities I enjoy. What started for me as a 3x/week regimen is now once every other week. During all this Dr A has maintained an interest in my activities and continued to help me during my visits by identifying patterns, periods and behaviors that help or hinder my mobility. Things as simple as exercises and yoga poses to do or avoid, adjusting a tight ankle or hip joint, or dealing with the effects of a long ski season. These discussions and treatments are part of each visit where she takes the time necessary for each patient. The office is low-key, comfortable, and dog-friendly. Her 2 labs enjoy all the opportunities for human affection. The office manager, Maryse - a licensed nurse and massage therapist, is a wealth of knowledge about the body, nutrition, and holistic well-being. I can't say enough about how much Dr A's chiropractic care has revitalized me. Or to put it another way, helped me age more slowly. You don't often notice small losses in mobility and gradually adjust to the diminishing capacity. But when mobility is restored it's like a revelation! If you consider the spine to be the information superhighway of your nervous system, then any misalignments or imbalances can impede the flow of information and degrade the messages between your brain and the rest of your body. Think about trying to commute to work when only one lane of the highway is open, or watching a video pixelated because you're downgraded to dial-up speed. Dr A's adjustments, by restoring alignment and correcting imbalances, enable the messages get where they need to go, unimpeded and intact so my body can respond the way I expect it to. In short, they've enabled my body to continue to adapt to my environment rather than be confined by it. And the attention and care provided by Path of Life Chiropractic, in my mind, is what really distinguishes...
Read moreI like riding my bicycle, no wait, I love riding my bicycle! I love being outdoors in the woods riding trails. However, for the past five years I've not been able to ride due to a herniated disk and arthritis that left me with limited movement and pain. The thought of falling and doing more damage was all too scary so I hung up the bike.
As a nurse, I at first followed the conventional medical model of spine care, rest, ice, ibuprofen and physical therapy. On bad days, when I had twisted the wrong way, bent to tie my shoe or attempted something more physical like lifting the trash barrel (wow) I paid for it and would be miserable often for days with pain and limited movement in my spine. Then my son, Chris a personal trainer and all round health enthusiast recommended I try chiropractic care. Why not, I had nothing to lose.
In my first experiences with chiropractic care I did find some relief of my symptoms but continued to experience frequent exacerbations. I felt like I was walking a balance beam and became cautious of every move I made. This type of symptom based care though not bad was not getting to the root of the problem and I held the belief that with the right care, I could feel better.
Then one evening I attended a presentation at Path of Life Chiropractic in Nashua, NH and met Dr. Amy Haas. Dr. Amy introduced me to "corrective chiropractic care" something very different from "symptom" based care. She explained that with "spinal corrective adjustments" proper exercise and a positive attitude, I would not only feel better, but return to those things I loved doing. AHA!
At my first session, Dr. Amy conducted a comprehensive non-invasive spinal assessment using paraspinal thermography, surface EMG, digital radiography and a hands on assessment of my spine. Yup, I had some issues, like I didn't know that. Dr. Amy then developed an individual care plan for me and with confidence in myself to heal and in Dr. Amy's abilities, we entered into a partnership to "get my spine feeling fine."
I'm 12 weeks into my program at POL that includes adjustments, exercise and progress, yep, I said progress! I feel better! I can see and feel it. I am sleeping better, I have more energy and I am riding the trails again with confidence and no discomfort or pain. What's most remarkable is my recovery time. In the past a Saturday bike ride meant the rest of the weekend or maybe longer in recovery mode. Now, it's a bike ride and "what are we doing next."
So if you're feeling the way I was and ready to make a change, feel better and get your life back, then wind your way down to Path of Life. Oh, you might run into me there, I'll be the well "adjusted" guy wearing a smile and a...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about Dr. Amy and Christine, the office manager. I never write reviews but am so impressed that I decided they are worthy of a good, long, review. If you are on the fence about chiropractic care, this is the place to go.
I Was having unbearable pain in my low back due to pregnancy (wait, don't stop reading if you aren't pregnant! This post still applies to everyone). I was having shooting pain down my legs, and felt like I threw out my back with simple movements. I needed someone who was experienced with pregnancy and truly understands what is going on with the body and how to approach it. The other two chiropractors I saw were not helpful.
My initial appointment was about 1.5 hours. Since I'm pregnant, we couldn't do the X-ray. However, she did scan my spine with this fancy machine that hooks up to the computer and tells Dr. Amy where I have muscle imbalances and deviations in my spine. Let me tell you, nothing hokey pokey about this machine. It was spot on and pointed out exactly where I've been having pain. Then we moved on and she evaluated my gait and other parts that wouldn't show up on the test. She was compiling information so she could properly form a game plan for my adjustment. Dr. Amy thoroughly explained my results and I could not believe how much time she spent with me. Yes the first visit is a little expensive, but in the two other chiropractors that I've tried before, neither did an assessment like dr. Amy. I was in and out of their offices in 30 minutes.
Fast forward to about three months later. I am still seeing Dr. Amy twice a week. My baby is in the perfect position, my back pain has decreased significantly and I don't have aches in my legs anymore (I was wrongly diagnosed with bursitis by my previous chiro). YAY! Dr. Amy used her fancy scanning devices on me two additional times and we were able to see huge improvements in everything, which I again agreed with the results.
If Dr. Amy can help a very tiny framed person who has solely gained 25 pounds just in the belly, I'm confident she can help anyone if they follow the treatment plan she develops for you. She truly cares about her patients and doesn't do this for the money. She even saw me on Labor Day because I am so close to my due date, she didn't want me to go without an adjustment. Seriously, Dr. Amy is the BEST and I would have had a pretty tough pregnancy...
