I arrived at ER yesterday unable to walk. I was able to stand once getting out of the cab, but due to my torn quad couldn't take a step. I waved to the security guard and he turned around and continued the conversation he was having. After another minute or so passed. He turned back around and once again I motioned for his assistance, and he came to the automatic door never saying a word. I asked him to please get some assistance for me as I was about to collapse from the exhaustion and pain I was in. Never saying a word he meandered back inside and after a minute or so someone came with a wheelchair. They brought me into the triage area and someone admitted me and wheeled me to waiting room. They took me back to the ER exam room fairly quickly, and the nurses were fabulous, had good bedside manner and told me the doctor would check on me soon. After about 30 minutes the admission lady asked me to complete my intake information via a link texted to my phone. I attempted but could not connect. 30 more minutes and she returned saying i need to be connected to Hospital wifi in order for the site to allow connection. I completed the forms, and after about 30 minutes the doctor came in and examined me, palpitated my abdominal and leg area and asked questions related to my injury. He advised he wanted to do a CT scan to get the best look at my injuries, and said he would get me something for the pain. I thanked him and he left. A few minutes later a Nursing assistant came to take me to radiology. As she was taking me back she asked about how I became injured, and I told her it was a skateboarding accident, and she replied by saying that I should have been expecting to be injured, what did you think would happen? I should get a bicycle for exercise instead. You're too old to be doing this. I decided to take the high road and not tell her I thought her to be unprofessional by saying her opinions, and she pushed me to an area to wait for radiology tech to bring me back. While I waited nurse's checked on me and were very professional regarding my situation. They did the scan and brought me back to an area and I waited for them to take me back to the exam room, which they did. In this time between Dr's exam and the CT was about 1.5 hours. I was in considerable pain and once back to exam I asked the nurse if I was going to be given something for pain, and she said she'd check. 20 minutes later they returned with my discharge paperwork and I again asked about pain medication and a Dr's note to give my employer. 10 minutes later they returned with meds and note and told me that my prescription had been sent to the pharmacy across the street. They neve cleaned the bloody abrasions on my arms, they wheeled me to the entrance and told me to take care. I've never in my 40 years been so poorly cared for by an ER . I've never felt less compassion by a hospital team. The nurses were pleasant, and the Dr seemed very capable, but to come into a hospital when there was literally 0 people in waiting room at the time of my arrival, and to be passed around without anyone examining anywhere besides the abdomen after having a wreck sever enough to tear my groin and quad is a sad indication of how thorough your treatment will be. All of the emphasis was about collection of payment and minimal when it came to making sure I was not injured anywhere besides where my pain was predominately. They never took a blood sample, to which my wife was shocked. After trauma like that the possibility of enzyme levels rising to a point where it could be taxing to my kidneys or liver should have been checked especially after the CT indicated I had many confusions of bone around my flank. I'll never choose Ascension again unless it's the...
Read moreMy mom and I both came in together after a car wreck which we were sandwiched in between two cars. Came in by ambulance,my blood pressure was sky high stroke level remind you. They kept me and my mom apart the whole time wouldn't let me see her or stay with her. I had to sit in the waiting room for over 2 hours before going back, the doctor didn't seem to care, the nurse told me after my blood pressure was still up remind you now it's like 3- 3 1/2 hours later it is still sky high. But here's your discharge paperwork. They seemed like they had other important things they had to do. Remind you again we came in because of a car wreck. Didn't listen told me that the pain I was having was from an old injury not going to do anything. Why 3 stars then, because I have been treated worse here sometimes sitting in the waiting room more than 6 hours till I left and officially ended up somewhere else. I do not plan on going back. Because of another totally different incident, one I'm really not ready to disclose, but with that I stepped in and just asked if someone who just made my day worse could just receive the help they needed. Didn't feel like getting police involved or courts, I knew what was going on and I stepped up and said if he could get admitted to a mental hospital and be put on meds his condition might improve, so with that I was an advocate for someone who couldn't really make any sense of reality, because I know how it feels to go get help and be turned away. So when they asked if I would like to press charges I said, no I would love for someone to help him. So yes security was involved while I was there, but it was a situation with someone else. And because of the men who were on the security team that day that's why the 3 stars other than that they diserve zero or maybe one star and that's because the rudeness of everyone almost from the time we came in to the time we were both discharged and then when we got discharged the nurse that my mom had, because they gave her something that she wasn't supposed to have, laughed at her because she forgot what he said. People we had a horrible day already we didn't need the extra. If we thought we were okay we wouldn't have came to be whatever, because it took both of us to get each other through what happened and our pain no thanks to Y'all. My mom rest her case in this we will not be going there ever again. It's supposed to be healing, but no every time it is horribly more stressful. We will be going to midtown from now on and if this continues y'all will be hearing from a lawyer or the news so my suggestion is get it straight, because we would not have been there if we thought...
Read moreMy mother had a terrible experience with this hospital, and it needs to be shared. “I went to have surgery to get my kidney stones removed. When I first got there, I saw that they had gotten a translator for me. I did not request a translator to be there. My husband and I went and told the lady at the front desk that we did not want a translator; we can speak and understand English without one. She still made him come with us into the room. I did not need him at all. I answered all the questions the nurse (Kim) asked me without his help. He didn’t do anything at all except just sit there and listen to stuff about me he didn’t need to know. The nurse even said that I understood all the questions and was able to respond to them without his help. My culture doesn’t allow for a random stranger, who isn’t in the medical field, to know anything about my health. He also stressed me out the entire time we were there. I politely told the nurse that I didn’t want him to stay here any longer. She finally asked to leave and he did. I went in the room (the one where i could change and sit in until i had to go in for surgery) and I changed my clothes(and left them in there). When I was going to go in for surgery, they told my husband to take all of my stuff because I was not going to go back in the room again. They said that whenever I got out of surgery that I would have to change (into my old clothes) in the bathroom. When I did come out of surgery, they did make me go and change in the bathroom. This is the first time that a hospital has ever made me change in the bathroom after I came out of surgery. When I came out of of surgery, they put me in the (recovery?) room. The people (staff) in there were eating and drinking in front of us.(the people who were recovering from the numb shots and etc.) They were also talking very loudly. When I woke up, I saw that my arms were scratched. This of course was because of the nurses that had fake nails on (and real nails but very sharp ones). Also, my left arm (that they put all the needles in) is very blue because of the number of times they (the person that put the needle in) kept on sticking the needle back in (because they kept on losing the vein). This is the absolute worst hospital I’ve ever been to. The treatment that I received all day there was the worst I’ve ever received. I am never going back...
