Where do we begin on this one? We originally visited Draper Jewelry Company around Christmas of 2016. Craig, the owner, met with us and we explained the type of ring we were looking to have made. My wife was looking to add two bands to her engagement ring. She wanted the bands to be flush and level so it looked like one ring. He took notes on the design, sketched what it would look like and assured us custom rings would be possible. We ended up holding off for personal reasons. At the end of January 2017, we visited the store again. Craig again took notes of the design and displayed full confidence the design would be no problem. We asked they not remove the center stone as it was moissanite and the original jeweler who made the ring worked pretty hard to set it. After our conversation with Craig, we left the ring at Draper Jewelry. We live in Oklahoma but were visiting family in Nashville and they said shipping the rings was no issue. Three weeks elapsed and we had not heard anything about the ring. My wife called to inquire about the ring and spoke with Craig. Craig had completely forgotten the previous conversations and asked if we had even dropped off the ring. After clarifying we had in fact dropped off the ring, Craig back peddled and said it should be ready shortly. Early March 2017, we still had not heard anything on the ring. I called again to inquiry about the ring. Craig told me the rings should be into the store within the next several days and sent me a picture of the computer aided design (CAD) file. The rings in the CAD render did not look like they would fit flush and level on the engagement ring. I mentioned it to Craig but he confidently assured me there would be no issue. Several days elapsed and I again called the store. Craig told me the ring(s) were ready and I asked him to send me a picture. In the picture, the color on the bands was off and the rings didn’t appear flush and level. Craig asserted the rings were good and the several co-workers said the ring looked great. We received the ring several days later and boy were we in for quite a surprise. The center stone was completely loose and could be turned by hand. The stone wasn’t set in the notch on the prongs. There were several large black marks on the stone. The prongs were bent and the band was warped. The color of the bands was off. The rings that were supposed to be flush and level were far from flush and level. In fact, the rings looked stair stepped which made the ring not even fit on my wife’s finger (see attached pictures). I called Craig to discuss the issues. Craig offered no apology and just told me he had checked the deficiencies prior to sending it. I sent the ring back to Craig. I also sent him a text with the list of issues and pictures to make sure they were all fixed. Another 2 weeks elapsed and I still had not heard anything on the ring. I called again to inquiry about the ring. Craig told me the ring wasn’t fixed yet and he would have it finished in the next 24 hours. 4 days passed with nothing from Draper Jewlery. I called Craig and he said he would send it out. I again asked for pictures and called Craig with the issues I noticed before he sent it out. The ring arrived and the issues were still there. The black mark was still on the stone. The ring was warped and the prongs were still offset. The prongs looked like they had been pinched with some tool and looked weakened. The bands color was still different. I took the ring in person on another visit to Nashville. I made sure the issues were note with Craig. Craig agreed to fix them and ultimately replace the stone. We returned to the store to check it in person. The ring looked good and we took possession of the ring. Several days later two of the side stones fell out. We have never had an issue with the side stone prior to taking them to Draper Jewelry. Overall, our experience with Draper Jewelry was unfathomable. Complete lack of communication. Poor craftsmanship and a ring we are going to take to another jeweler to fix and make the band correctly.

I dropped my diamond engagement ring off on a Thursday and said it would be ready mid next week. By the following Thursday, I had not heard an update so called. The woman I spoke with said she would check on it and call me back, so after 4 hours of waiting I called them back and they said it would be ready Monday. I called Monday to see when it could be picked up and she said they didn't have it yet because my ring was with an off-site engraver and the woman who delivers jewelry between the engraver studio and their store was on vacation. At that point I was confused why I was first told mid week and then told Monday when an integral part of the supply chain of getting my ring back to me was on vacation. Additionally, I was never told my ring would be taken off site. I told the woman I spoke with that it made me really uneasy that I could not get a straight answer about when I could get my ring back and she seemed dismissive as if I was a nuisance and said they'd follow up. Again, I did not hear back for a couple hours so I called again and the engraver told me it was done and would be delivered tomorrow (Tuesday) around 10AM. I called at noon before driving there and the girl I spoke with said my ring was not in the store because the woman who could deliver it was on vacation so it would not be ready today. At this point, I was receiving numerous stories that didn't match and I just wanted my ring back.

It turns out they shipped my ring from Lebanon to the store in Nashville so I was able to pick it up Tuesday. I should add that I'm very uncomfortable that my ring was shipped (ie was it insured properly), when I was never told in the first place that my ring was going offsite.

At the end of the day, I'm upset because I left my most prized possession (due to sentiment and value) with a store that didn't seem to respect that. I didn't drop off a gemstone piece or a jewelry box to be engraved, this is my engagement ring. If it was just delayed for a whole week and they were up front with me I would not be upset. But I was the one who had to call for all the updates (they never called me), and essentially everyone I spoke with in store could not give me a concrete update on my ring.

It is such a helpless feeling to drop off something with such high sentiment and to feel like it's being handled by people who could care less. The whole situation makes me incredibly uneasy and unnecessarily upset about how my ring was handled and could have been managed by them totally differently. At the end of the day, if you leave an item of value with a store and you call for an update, the person in store should be able to address where you ring is and when it will be ready.

My fiance bought this ring from my uncle who is a jeweler in Boston. I spoke with my Uncle and said the whole process was not kosher and misleading and will be matching my ring to my original appraisal from him when I am in...

To make a very long and repetitive shorter than it is, my wedding set came from Draper. My husband and I brought 11 diamonds that belonged to his grandmother. The larger one was placed in a setting that they sold us and the smaller ones were made into a band. The band was made incorrectly but by the time I got it, I didn’t have enough time to have them redo it. I have lost diamonds from the band and I am now losing diamonds out of the engagement ring. I don’t cook, clean, shower, wash dishes or do anything outdoors with them on and never have. I have had this set less than three years. I hardly wear them because I’m so afraid of losing anymore. The last time I took my band in, the owner was incredibly rude with me over the phone. I have taken my rings to another reputable jeweler in Nashville where I was told that the mount we were sold would not “stand the test of time” and losing diamonds would be an ongoing issue. I’m utterly disappointed in Draper for many reasons. At this point, I have to go get my rings and put them in a safe because I don’t have the thousands of dollars to get what I thought I was getting from Draper. If you are using your personal/family heirlooms, please...
