We visited Nashville Barrel Company Distillery and Whiskey Bar during our road trip back to DC after spending Thanksgiving with family. While we were initially excited about the visit, our experience turned out to be bittersweet.
On the positive side, the place itself is aesthetically pleasing, and the products we tried were excellent. A young lady at the bar was an absolute highlightâshe was warm, welcoming, and provided exceptional customer service. Her sweet demeanor, paired with the presence of her adorable dog, made us feel at home and added a touch of charm to the experience.
However, our visit was overshadowed by an unpleasant interaction with a gentleman at the front desk, who appeared to be Hispanic. From the beginning, he seemed annoyed and unwelcoming, as if our presence was a bother. His attitude left us feeling uncomfortable and judged unfairly, despite the fact that we spent close to $200 during our visit.
The most upsetting moment occurred as I was leaving. I was holding my own phone and sweater, yet he called me back, implying that I might be stealing something. This was humiliating and completely unnecessary. Our family prides itself on being respectful, and the insinuation was both offensive and hurtful.
Additionally, when we asked about the price of an item, his response was curt and dismissive, mentioning a markdown with a clear attitude. When my father mistakenly picked up a more expensive bottle, the correction felt more like a reprimand than a polite clarification.
While we truly appreciated the kind service from the bartender and the quality of the products, this incident left us with a negative impression. Itâs disheartening to be treated this way, especially after what was meant to be a joyful stop during our holiday travels. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we are unlikely to return, as everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect when supporting a business.
This is the reason I am giving 3 starsâthe bartender and the quality of the products deserve recognition, but the poor treatment by another staff member left us...
Read moreThe people, the bourbon, and the overall experience combine for an authentic bourbon tasting and bottling experience that knocks it out of the park on all levels. From the moment you walk in the doors and see the various bottles and picks you know this company knows bourbon. The friendship the owners and coworkers have at NBC is apparent and shines through in the experiences offered and the story they are trying to tell. My wife and I chose to partake in the bottle your own bourbon experience. Meredith was our guide and is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly (with great taste in music and bourbon!). She took time to chat with us about bourbon and Nashville and was available to answer any questions. The 4 samples we tried were all uniquely tasty and had variations in nose, palate, and finish that were highlighted through our bottling experience. We were encouraged to think critically and at the end were offered to sample our top two bourbons blinded which made the experience even better. The cherry on top was meeting James. James is a very friendly down to earth guy who seems like a normal guy who happens to love bourbon and is very good at picking barrels! We had the opportunity to talk with him and learn more about his story which was really cool. Overall I highly recommend stopping here if you are a fellow bourbon lover and you find yourself...
