This was my first time visiting this consignment store, as I walked in I was immediately acknowledged by one of the employees, Lauri who seemed very pleasant. She asked if there was anything in particular that I was looking for and offered to help me with choosing items based on my fashion sense.
I was very open and honest with her when I didn’t like a piece, and she appreciated the honesty and kindly Continued helping me. Kept referring to me on a first name basis and her level of customer service I was certainly pleased with.
However, there was another employee with blonde, curly hair that also began to offer help and the moment I said I didn’t like the item she was immediately standoffish and said “Lauri, I’m going to leave this one up to you.” Completely brushed me off and I felt judged like I wasn’t good enough to be at the store or wasn’t going to buy any merchandise.
I ended up buying 5-6 pieces that I truly liked and one particular item a D&G corset top that I take fault for not inspecting, completely left me bruised upon trying it on at home.
I went back the following day and the woman with the curly hair was there. Did not say hello, or welcomed me back. I informed her of what was wrong with the item and understood that it was all final sale, but I kindly asked for an exception and that it wouldn’t happen again. She spent about 10-15 minutes literally demeaning me and treating me with much disrespect. I have never felt so uncomfortable, and disappointed at the poor level of service I was receiving.
A woman and two of her children walked in and this employee immediately greeted them, and was kinder to the child ignoring my presence all together. They did not end up purchasing anything and she was nicer to them then she remotely to me.
Following the exchange of the item that I wouldn’t recommend anyone to purchase because it literally bruised me, I kindly mentioned that I have a lot of LV Purses, and other items I’d like to consign. I asked if they did that since I had no knowledge of how they worked or any information. Once again, she made me feel stupid and responded with laughter saying, “You didn’t put it together that this is a consignment store.” I said yes, I didn’t know what the procedure was for how they operated since I had never done something like this before. After that point I had lost respect, any sense of empathy, and was disgusting by her lack of customer service.
She spent a good 20 minutes talking my ear off and I just stood there and listened.
If it weren’t for Lauri and her help, I most certainly would not step foot in that establishment again.
I have over 12 years of customer service experience, private personal assistant for high level professionals and not once have I been made feel so belittled...
Read moreA neighborhood GEM worth coming to from all over!! I feel so lucky to get to pop by here whenever I do my returns next door at UPS! I don’t live in needham, but my parents do, and I’ve been popping in since 2nd Hand Rose first opened. It’s such a cute space and feels magical in the way that they are able to curate so many amazing finds in an intimate and cozy setting! I find such great items here and the majority of my pants are from them! Whenever I have an event (a wedding, a vacation, a special event) I always try to make it over because, somehow, I always find the perfect piece (and often the entire outfit) at such a great deal. At this point, I’ve gotten to know all of the staff! What a sweet community, I even run into them at other spots around town. This truly feels like a neighborhood gift!! I was very disheartened and shocked to read such a negative review below this, I can only surmise that the person writing it was having a very bad day and brought that with them wherever they would have gone! As someone who has been popping in and out of this little shop for years, buying an array of wonderful items (that I am always complemented on), and getting to know the staff, I can’t recommend it here enough!! My goodness, the other day they even stayed opened late while I finished trying everything on, it was so fun, she and I were talking about our holiday plans and she helped me pick out an outfit for thanksgiving! Come here for the great clothes, and stay for the sweet feeling of neighborhood and community! One more perk, I am often there alone when I’m on errands, and I’m someone who likes to shop with friends so that they can make sure things are flattering on me in the areas I can’t see. Whenever I ask the team, they help me figure out the perfect piece and are always supportive to help me find something that actually looks great. Never trying to sell for the sake of selling! They get what it’s like figuring out the right fit and bring that care and compassion to their clients! I have a return to ship from UPS so I’m planning to pop by 2nd Hand Rose again today,...
Read moreWow. I've heard disgruntled owners talking about customers behind their backs, but this one blew me away. I was excited to check out this store's stock this week (and forgive the dingy environment). And I was willing to forgive the way that I was treated during my previous visit (they aggressively asked me to give them a price for a Chanel costume necklace when I had already told them that I was just thinking about it. After offering an (intentionally low) price, they responded with an irritated "Oh, no way. You're not ready to buy it, then." .....Right. I wasn't. That's why I had said I was really only looking. Is that not OK to do?) I try really hard to give people the benefit of the doubt, and today I entered again, excited to see whether the necklace was still there. The same two women were present. I was stung when I heard a low but audible, sarcastic "Oh, THIS one" about me from the owner when I walked through the door. I felt humiliated and embarrassed as I approached the glass case. After a couple minutes of awkward tension while I browsed through a rack of clothing, trying to recover from such a blatantly unacceptable "greeting", I decided to call the older brunette and blonde women on their behavior. A moment of stunned silence -- and then they pretended confusion, asking "What?" So I repeated it: "I could have sworn I heard something strange when I walked through the door." ...The door that I then exited for good. You lost a sale and a customer, ladies. Folks, take your hard-earned money and go across the street to the much more inviting, attractive, and better priced Closet Exchange. Their stock is impeccable - barely used - and I have ALWAYS been welcomed with incredible warmth, even if I'm...
