Neenah Swimming Pool — Local services in Neenah

Our recent visit to the city pool was completely unacceptable and left us shocked by the behavior of one of the staff members. The young man working the slide showed aggressive, unprofessional, and outright hostile behavior toward our family. We visited with our 1 year old and 9 year old. Instead of calmly communicating any concerns, he escalated the situation, told us to leave in a condescending tone, and then climbed onto the roof of the building to monitor whether we were actually leaving — which we did.

There is no excuse for this kind of behavior, even in a high-pressure summer job. Enforcing rules is one thing — intimidation and power-tripping is another. This individual clearly lacks the training and maturity to interact with the public, especially families and children.

We will not be returning to this pool, and we strongly urge the city to re-evaluate the hiring and training standards for its staff. Public facilities should be safe, welcoming places — not ones where families are driven out by employees on a power trip.

The prices are extremely affordable, chairs around the pool area, bring a blanket and lawn chairs if you're going later in the day so you can set up on the huge lawn behind the deck chairs, a drop slide, diving board/s (wasn't over in that area much), and a water fountain section for the little tikes to run through. I love the gradual beach-like entrance where we sat with our three year old. It was perfect to get him acclimated to the temp of the water and such. There's a sandbox with two different sections for shade, as well as concessions (ice cream around the $1 to $1.75, nachos and pretzel around $3 and only a $1 to add cheese). Nice pool by the lake. A little smaller than some municipal pools so it can be pretty busy on hot days. This pool will allow you to bring small balls to play catch in the water(Appleton pools will not). Good concession area and choices. The bee's will be happy to see you later in summer in the food area be warned! Zero depth area, nice sand play area for younger kids. If you need a lounge chair get here as soon as they open, they fill up fast otherwise nice grassy area to park your stuff. Locker area clean. Lifeguards don't look to be sleeping in the chairs,...
