I have bought three (3) separate appliances from Tidewater over the past 4 years. We bought a Speed Queen commercial washer, a Speed Queen commercial dryer, and recently a new GE gas range. The Speed Queen models that we bought come with a 5-year warranty and were over $1000 each when we bought them. We have used the warranty a couple of times during the term. Last month i was awakened at 2 am to hear my washer in the spin cycle. I had gone to bed at 9 pm for work the next day. When I opened the washer there was no water in the tub but the clothes were soaked. It was a moderately small load of just some dress slacks and a couple of tops. I stopped the load and then restarted it on the rinse cycle to see if it would at least drain. It ran the cycle and completed with no issues. The fact that the washer had been running for about 5 hours and hadn't completed the cycle had me concerned. I contacted Tidewater the next day to get a service call since it's still under warranty for a little longer so I wanted to make sure there are no major issues going on that will bite me after the warranty runs out. They said sure and scheduled the repair guy to come out a few days later. He came out and told my husband he ran the diagnostics and couldn't find a reason for the issue. So, we just figured we'd wait and see if it did it again. I got a call from Tidewater several days later saying they were billing us for the service call. When I asked how that could be if its under warranty and they said if he doesn't find a problem they bill the customer for the call, $138.03. Fair warning to all their potential or existing customers, apparently their warranty means it's warranted against any problem so long as the tech can figure out what is wrong. If he can't determine the problem, they are going to bill their customer. This is not explained with the warranty. I have no intention of buying another appliance from them. If they treat their long term customers this way there is no advantage to "buying local" which is what I always attempt to do first. Tidewater has burned...
Read moreOur refrigerator died… completely died on Friday of the July 4th long weekend. In a panic we went to a big box store. Realizing our options were very limited because the space where the refrigerator lives is sadly limited. We ordered what we could, told them earliest delivery could be made is July 13th. Preparing ourselves that we would just have to live out of a small cooler filled with ice for 2 weeks. So grateful that a neighbor told us about Tidewater. We drove over the next day. They had several in stock to choose from that would fit our space and they could make delivery in just a few days. Canceled the order from the chain store immediately. Our new fridge came today, delivery guys were AWESOME. Professional. Knowledgeable. A+! The sales team called us the morning of delivery when the fridge was being loaded onto the truck when they noticed a ding in the door (we purchased the floor model) they offered to either get a whole new fridge, replace the door or provide a credit.
