This was my third visit to The Refinery. My first two times were 5 out of 5 for customer service; they made me feel welcome, and I left laughing. Unfortunately, my visit this time was far from acceptable, let alone friendly, with my experience on 11/29/24 at drawer 1 at 12:42 with Olivia.
I asked about what deals they had for Black Friday. I was answered with, "What do you want, and how much are you looking at spending?" I told her I was looking to get two ounces and asked again what deals they had. She immediately said, "We don’t have any deals on flower," and when I asked what deals they had, I got, "There are no deals on flower." I said, "Okay, what do you have in tier 1?" She pulled out two and didn’t even show me the names. I asked if that was all they had, and I was told, "Yeah, that's it." Then I asked to see what they had in tier 2, and she took two down, telling me once again, "This is all we've got." I was met with nothing but attitude.
Then I asked again, "So what deals do you have?" I was basically told they didn’t have any deals except "Buy 2 pre-rolls, get two free." I'm pretty sure I was lied to throughout all of that. Then I asked about the free 1/8 for being my third visit and spending more than $100. She told me I didn’t qualify for it because this was my fifth visit, which is untrue. I asked how that was possible since it was my third visit. She said, "No idea, that's what the system says; it's your fifth time here." I asked if I could speak to a manager, and she proceeded to tell me that she WAS the manager. She then said, "I’ll just give you a free eighth so you don’t feel like you’re getting screwed," but when I got to my car, I looked at my receipt and noticed she shorted me a half gram in one of the ounces, and charged me almost $20 over the tier 1 price because I “didn’t qualify for the discount.” She also didn’t label one of the bags. When I went back to confront her and ask why I didn’t get the discount price, she tried to argue with me and then went and got the ACTUAL manager. He solved the issue.
I feel like my mistreatment was directly due to my speech impediment. It seemed to me that she was struggling to understand me, which seemed to make her uncomfortable and/or frustrated, causing her to want to rush the interaction and end it as quickly as possible. Read moreI usually go to Jars up the road and I wish I did this time as well. This place was having a grand opening weekend event so I went here wanting to support and expecting some good deals. People were super nice but man my order was messed up multiple times and I felt misled on the costs. Their website has items listed at wrong weights so you think you’re getting a deal instead you’re getting ripped off, I had to catch the mistake myself before I pulled off. At Jars my order is always right, they find me a discount so I end up spending less than expected, and they give me some freebies. Here my order was wrong multiple times, discounts not applied, I somehow paid more than expected and ended up with less. The nicest people, but just go to Jars. It’s closer, has curbside, better deals, better selection, better rewards, better website. Also not happy with some of the product I bought, wouldn’t have bought it had I known it was liquid consistency…but you can’t touch the product and the packaging hid the appearance (on purpose, I feel). Read moreI've had a love hate relationship with the refinery for a few years. Was one of the first places I shopped in Michigan. I've been sold product there that was almost 2 years old, and was ghosted by management when I brought it up. Told myself id never go back, then they opened in new Buffalo. First 2 trips were fine, not anything to write about. The last trip , will be my last. Went last Tuesday, early afternoon, not busy, 2 customers in line, what appeared to be 4 or more employees milling around with 2 helping the customers. We waited well over 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. My wife asked about some edibles, was given the wrong price on them but whatever she picked out a few things, and as she was being helped, id been looking at various items on the shelf. Not a single word was said to me, they only helped my wife and sent us on our way. There are too many places in new Buffalo to deal with this poor...
