Three Mondays ago, I discovered a sewage backup in my partially finished basement. I called Shrewsbury Plumbing & Heating and reached them right at the end of the day. A crew responded and cleared the line by plunging the outside clean-out. They were on site for about 30 minutes, and the visit cost $180. I appreciated their quick response and the referral to a restoration company, which arrived within three hours to begin cleanup.
Unfortunately, last Thursday night—after a week-long restoration process—the same problem occurred. The next morning, Shrewsbury Plumbing & Heating returned. They snaked the main drain and restored flow. I asked whether there would be a charge since this was the same issue occurring so soon after their first visit, and I was told to call Stan on Monday when he returned from vacation. That visit cost $279.
This Tuesday, yet again, we experienced a sewage backup. I called and spoke with Stan, who informed me that the company does not guarantee sewage backup repairs. I asked why a camera inspection wasn’t done during the first or second visit, and he explained that they first attempt less involved methods. In hindsight, the initial response amounted to short-term fixes that did not identify the root cause—while generating additional service charges. On this third visit, the crew worked hard and ultimately used a camera to discover a stick lodged in the main drain, which they removed. This visit cost $444.
I understand that not every issue is obvious on the first attempt. However, when I call a professional for a problem I cannot resolve myself, I expect that the goal is to fully diagnose and eliminate the cause—not to take incremental steps that allow the condition to recur. I am a career firefighter, and when someone's house is on fire, we take extra measures to prevent a rekindle. That is part of delivering competent and responsible service.
Given the nature of a main sewer line blockage and the costs involved per visit, camera inspection should be a standard early step—not a last resort after multiple failures. My criticism is not aimed at the technicians who came to my home; Steve and Nate, in particular, were professional and worked hard. My concern is with management decisions and the lack of clear procedures that prioritize resolving the issue correctly the first time.
If a camera had been used during the first visit, this issue could likely have been resolved immediately—saving significant time, stress, and expense. I am writing this review to encourage a more customer-focused approach moving forward. The rating associated with this review reflects management practices, not the field crews...
Read moreI just used Key Property Services for installing a new water heater. My existing water heater was from 2005 when I purchased the house so I knew it wasn't going to last forever. I started noticing rust colored water coming out every so often from certain faucets so I figured it was time. Stan originally came over to attempt to service the water heater but shortly into the work we concluded it needed to be replaced. This was all on a Saturday which most plumbers won't do without charging you double since its not a week day. Stan went back to his shop and got a water heater and we got started. There were a few hiccups simply due to how the old one was connected so it took a bit longer than expected but Stan got the new lines hooked up and a new gas line connected and its looked great. There was a small leak that I noticed and Stan came back the following Monday and came in to repair it. Cost wise his rates were very reasonable and its nice finding a plumber who works on Saturdays which fits in perfectly with my schedule for not having to miss work. Stan was very knowledgeable and answered a lot of my questions and concerns. I'd recommend Key Property Services to anybody who's in the area looking for a reasonable rate from a reliable...
Read moreListen man these guys JUST finished my house today and I’ve got absolutely nothing bad to say about these guys. I live in a townhome 2.5 bath and 3 bed and I was quoted by 2 companies @ $7,000 to redo the plumbing with Pex A and these guys charged me $4,004. The original estimate was $3400 but I also had them replace my shower valves. They did exactly what they said they’d do, they were super nice and professional. Stan was really nice and so were the guys who did the actual labor I believe it was Tim and Nate. These guys definitely got saved to my contact list for any future plumbing jobs or heating and if anyone asks who I went to I’m sending them to these guys. Bottom line is they were great and saved me $3000 from the other guys for the same labor, and materials. Got the plumbing done in 3 days time but they guys made sure to always leave me water turned on in between days for showers and cooking etc. they cleaned up the mess afterwards. I’m so happy I went...
