First time visiting, very happy with my experience! Read on for more details.
So I had been shopping around on-line for a specific, relatively high-end knife, and every single website that I could find who sold it was out of stock. Every one of them. Decided to go to the manufacturers website and see if I could find more information, and saw on their where-to-buy page that Cherry Creek Gallery was a distributor. I had never heard of Cherry Creek before, but being that they were only a 35minute drive away, and the knife I wanted appeared to be sold out everywhere, decided that they were worth looking into. So I went to their website which, admittedly, is pretty lacking, but there was some contact information to reach out with. So I did. I sent an email inquiring about the knife I wanted, not specifically since I had given up finding one, but asked if they had anything from the same brand in the same color. Received an email reply from Louie pretty quickly about what they had that fit what I inquired about, and lucky enough for me they had the exact one I'd been looking for! Not knowing anything about what Cherry Creek was like, and seeing that the knife appeared out of stock virtually everywhere else, I asked if they could possibly hold it aside for me until I was able to stop in on the coming Saturday, and Louie had no problems doing that for me which I greatly appreciated.
So, today is that Saturday, and I went in to Cherry Creek this morning to check it out.
The business itself is rather quaint and unassuming. A plain white storefront with a small sign above the door, hours posted (though funnily enough the open sign was not illuminated). When I walked inside the setting reminded me of an antiques shop in many ways, and though I generally dislike antique shops, this was much more pleasant. It has a certain 'personality' to it I suppose, though it's difficult to describe. It was unexpected, yet somehow calming. I walked in and asked for Louie whom I had been communicating with via e-mail, and he was right there and helped me out nearly immediately. He seemed very nice. Has a relaxed, calming, and genuine nature and was just all-around a pleasure to interact with. You can tell that he knows his stuff, and just seems genuinely happy to be doing what he's doing, happy to help you out, offer tips/advice, and even gave gratitude for the business. That part was mutual, because I was grateful as well for his help and for making the entire experience a remarkably pleasant one. He even gave me some free stickers since I drove so far to stop in. (I didn't even consider it a far drive, but that gesture made me smile).
All around, from going in with no expectations stumbling upon the website to walking away knife in-hand (or rather, in box), was an absolute delight of an experience.
Sure, the website could use some work (and we even touched on that briefly during my visit) but if you're like me and stumbled upon cherry Creek and are reading these reviews, just send them an e-mail, give them a call, or step in for yourself to see if they have what you're looking for.
Despite the 'far' drive, I will most likely be coming back here again the next time I'm in the market for a quality knife. Louie was a delight to work with, and I'd be more than happy to become a repeat customer.
If you took the time to read this essay of a review, thank you. And Louie, if you read this, thank you again...
Read moreLouie (owner) was a pleasure to encounter in a business that draws unusually demanding customers of Microtech knives. I came from out of state looking for an authorized vender and had very low expectations of finding or buying anything after going to several stores that were also venders. But upon arrival, and discovering the numerous selections of such phenomenal merchandise in such an unassuming location, I found a very common combat troodon. I ended up walking out with a fantastic edc and my b-I-l who came along w/no knowledge of these knives bought one too! We were laughing like kids again. You can buy happiness, if only for a moment and with the right store such as Cherry Creek Gallery Inc. New Lenox, IL!!!! Highly recommend you check this place out if you’re within 100 miles or if you’re somewhere else USA;...
Read moreI purchased a Kimber rifle from Cherry Creek using Gunbroker on 11/25/19. I paid $2,400 immediately after winning the auction. Sent my FFL via Gunbroker. Perfect transaction!!!! Waited a week and contacted them to find out why I had not received my new rifle. Lou told me he needed to get a metal box to ship it in. Over the 12 days he never once reached out to me but it was always me searching for answers as to why the gun wasn’t being shipped. Today he says I am a bad buyer and has written bad reviews about me saying I am a bad buyer and or my FFL is scetchy. I have used the same FFL for ten years and he is in the same location. Where does he get my FFL is scetchy? I have used him on over thirty transactions without a problem. I purchased, l paid and Lou says I am a bad buyer? Do you want to do business with...
