Rising Sun — Restaurant in New Lenox

This is my third and last time going to this location. I really wanted to like this place which is why I held off on my review but after three times there's nothing more to hope for. First we had the egg rolls. I noticed they were quite large and looked very good however they tasted pretty bad. The egg rolls had more of a soggy cabbage taste and there was no meat in them. We also ordered the crab rangoon of which was in the oil way too long and were shriveled up and tasteless. Finally I ordered a shrimp entree with vegetables and a mild sauce. The onions and pea pods were swimming in that sauce all day long and were not fresh whatsoever. The shrimp had an extremely heavy breading on them to the point that once you took it off you realized all you were really eating was nothing more than oil soaked breading with a touch of shrimp . One final thing that irked me was I asked them for an additional sweet and sour sauce. One sauce for the egg rolls and another for the crab rangoon. I also told him that I didn't need the hot mustard sauce. They ended up charging me an additional $0.65 for sweet and sour sauce which I thought was pretty lame. Now I know we ALL know the Rising Sun in New Lenox is the worst of the 3 locations, but I was weak and gave in and decided, against my better judgement, to stupidly assume they couldn't F-up basic beef & broccoli and egg roll. However, LOW & BEHOLD they outdid themselves this time. I went in to pick up my order and I asked for extra duck sauce. He said it's in there. I said yea but could I have just a few more? He said they are in there. I said very Nicley yes but can I get just a few of the little cups. (Like the ones he was handing to the guy in front of me picking up his order moments ago). He turned around to the box holding like 500 little cups, grabbed one and dropped it in my hand......

Wow. I looked at him stunned considering a small beef&broccoli and egg rolls was $18, but I couldn't get like 2-3 little cups of duck sauce? I will say the food was good, my husband enjoyed it, (minus the missing duck sauce), and I can't even truly complain about the price, while outrageous, what isn't these days? But the attitude and idk ....cheapness of a few extra duck sauce cups.....

But atlas, what did I expect? It is the New Lenox Rising Sun...

We ordered take out from Rising Sun in New Lenox tonight for dinner. It had been a while since we had ordered from here, so we figured we’d give it a shot. We ordered a large beef fried rice, a large order of sweet and sour chicken and an order of crab Rangoon. 3 items for over $46. Not great price wise, but it was supposed to be a treat. Unfortunately, the fried rice was the only decent tasting item in the order. The rest of the order tasted like the oil they were fried in was burnt. We could barely stomach a couple of bites and decided throw the rest out, as it tasted that bad that it would not get eaten at a later date. We called the restaurant to let them know and they acted like they had no idea what we were saying. After 2-3 minutes of saying the same thing over again in different ways they apologized and abruptly hung up.
