M C Market — Local services in Newark

The owners of this store raise the price on whatever you come in to buy regularly. They also charge whatever they want for tax and not the actual tax rate and that is illegal. I will be contacting the IRS and BBB, it's just not right. You can't charge whatever you want for tax. You can for products, but not tax. The female owner disagreed. She said she could charge me whatever she wanted for tax. It doesn't work that way. She couldn't even admit the actual tax rate, as she would have to admit she was overcharging. They seem to be taking advantage of the general lack of intelligence or education, of a lot of the people that live here. A 4 year college education is very uncommon in Newark, or I feel they might have wondered before why the tax here is ALWAYS an even dollar amount. The owners also have regularly rang products up for more than they have posted, which I am sure most people here do not even notice. I have a small business and travel. One parish in Louisiana has a different tax rate from another....and there is a state tax on top of that. Red states are the worst on taxes. In Louisana the total tax rate came out to be almost 12% of the total sale in some parishes. In eight years, I don't think I have ever seen an even dollar amount. Not to mention I know tax rates from all over....but the owner here can't even claim...

I come into the MC Market and Harry already knows both my smokes and my boyfriends and will have them on the counter ready for me as soon as I walk up. Harry’s wife is beyond sweet and every time she sees my daughter Sophia who refers to this place as “Harry’s Home!” Always gives her a piece of lady taffy for the road. Lastly, even Harry’s son is great! I came in one night in distress, couldn’t talk, crying beyond anything and he took the time to talk with me and make sure I was going to be okay. This family has an amazing business and doesn’t just care about a profit, they love seeing the returning faces and end up becoming more like friends! Thank you for such amazing people in...

I feel that people have a right to know that if you buy a cold 2 liter of pop it will cost you an extra. 50 cents.. But unfortunately they don't have any prices on any of their pop products. Only on some that are 20 Oz. 2 for $4 ... I think they need to let their customers know the prices before they get what they want and go to cash register to purchase the product. It's been a while since I have been in the store.. I used to get lottery tickets there. I am not sure if I will ever go to purchase...
