Mostly great experiences, but... Mercy on those who try to shop in a timely manner when the busses of migrant workers arrive. It took 73 minutes minutes to get to the cashier after entering the checkout lane, due entirely to having too few lanes open after 100 people arrived in two repurposed school busses and proceeded to each buy a bottle of Gatorade and ONE additional item, then paying exclusively with cash one person at a time. The coordination of bus arrivals clearly implies a relatively regular occurrence, so management shouldn't keep only two cashiers open when there are over 20 individual customers in each lane. Any rational person would realize that two 50-person lines streaming from the busses would likely result in the need for additional checkout lanes, but apparently not this store manager (or whatever supervisor eventually asked for additional lanes to open, 45 minutes after I started waiting in one of the only two open lanes).
Previous experience has been quite positive, but at this point I'm sorely tempted to take all future business elsewhere. This experience makes it clear that management only values individual purchases rather than the customer. Now that a better shopping "experience" isn't part of Hitchcock's, there really isn't any reason to continue shopping here. Both Publix and Walmart have far...
Read moreWhen they hand you your change make them count it. I was in their store and pick up a few things and was due $51.56 change. The cashier handed to me the recite with the bills on top and the 56 cents to my other hand. I just shoved the bills in my pocket and after getting home I pulled out the bills and only 2 $20.00s and 1 single so back I go and tell the cashier she shorted me $10.00. She tells me I am wrong that she counted out my change which she didn't. She told me she always does. I said that her draw should be 10 over or she already pocket the 10. I asked her to count her money she did and was 10 over. She lied to me twice first was l counted your money and I always do. If she did count it why didn't she see it was 10 short? This store is getting to be really bad for most everything. You used to walk in and the the workers would be nice ask you if you needed help. Not anymore the lady at the service counter told if I didn't like this I should go to...
Read moreMaybe I'm just spoiled from going to Alachua's deli for so long, but Newberry's Hitchcocks deli is gross. Yeah, they may have gotten new cases but their sides are dry and gross every time I go after work. I can understand things being dry after maybe 6-7, but 3:30 is still very early in the day. Worse is I figured I'd order anyway, they had more than a quarter of the Macncheese left and half a tub of mashed potatos... I'm not rude, I'm always really nice and polite, I've worked at a deli before. This lady scraped at the crumbs at the front of the pan not even touching the bulk of either, and gave me the bare minimum she had to give. I was always told if you wouldn't give it to your mom, don't give it to a customer. They raised the prices of the meal deals and this is what they do now. I got this for my kids to eat. Do better for your loyal customers, I could be...
