Beautiful, picturesque lake perfect for swimming, kayaking or paddle boarding that's located right off the road in the dense evergreens of north bend, included is a flat, easily walkable, yet still stunningly gorgeous trail that goes almost all the way around the lake, a children's interactive nature education center as well as a semi-challenging hike full of beautiful views right up rattlesnake ridge (the mountain overlooking the west side of the lake) the entrance to the hike and the education center are right by the lake so you can enjoy all these activities in one day, literally the perfect location for any summer activity, only downside is the mountain thats close by is to the west so in summer the sun sets behind the ridge at about 6:30pm then the whole lake is covered in shade thats usually when it clears out so if youd like a quieter experience thats the time to go, the other downside is that there is not nearly enough parking on site to support the influx of people during the summer months, so in the height of summer youd better get there early or you'll most likely be forced to park on the road outside of the recreation area, both sides of the road fill up quickly and can sometimes extend for over a mile so come dillegently or youll be walking to and from your car, other than that it's one of my favorite places to spend time for any reason, as a north bend local I make it up to this lake at least once a week so enjoy it in...
Read moreThis is a lovely spot for a picnic, a hike, or water activities. There is plenty of parking as well as plenty of trash and recycling bins and bathrooms around the lake. Please, be sure to clean up after yourselves as far as trash and bathrooms go to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone. There are a flock of geese that are friendly and came around us to hang out. We were nervous, because they had babies, but they were friendly and just curious about us. Beware are the goose poop as it is EVERYWHERE. I would bring chairs to relax rather than a blanket or sitting in the grass and do not wear good shoes. Overall, a beautiful spot, serene, and peaceful, with nice and easy...
Read moreWould come back again! Such a beautiful spot with a mountain backdrop. We had lunch and sunbathed. It seemed like a great place to kayak. Lots of people on paddle boats. It does get crowded on the weekend. It was 9ish in the morning when we went and cars already filled all the lots, parking all along the street (where we too parked). - My pictures were taken when we arrived. When we were leaving, the shore was filled...
