Got rear ended just off the Strip. No apparent damage but wife wanted it checked just in case. Caliber Collision was incompetent the one time we gave them a chance. Wife glanced at the review score here and thought we'd bring it here.
They seemed cool when we dropped it off. At that point, they DID NOT TELL US that there would be a surcharge for a credit card payment. They have a cool system where you can track the progress of your car in real time and the lady at the desk seemed nice. The location was hard to find on Google Maps but it's right next door to where Google thinks it is so no big deal. At this point, they're getting 4-5 stars.
Went to pick it up today and go to pay with my DEBIT CARD (NOT a credit card). They tell me they're charging a 5% surcharge for paying that way. The lady politely asked me if I wanted to go get cash. I felt ambushed. Who walks around with 370$ in cash anymore? This was a conversation to have with me when I dropped the car off NOT when I went to pick it up. So I just paid it and drove off with a bad taste in my mouth. The bill was 350$ + 5% so 367.50$ Their bill isn't itemized to show that they charged a surcharge or itemized in any other way either. 3 stars.
Came home and Googled a few things. The maximum surcharge they're allowed to charge on a CREDIT CARD is 4%. By law. You can not charge a surcharge on a debit card. The average surcharge that a retail brick-and-mortar business pays when a customer uses a credit card is 1.9 - 2% for Visa. If you're going to charge a surcharge, you have to tell the customer when the transaction begins. You have to itemize that surcharge separately. So that feels slimy and maybe even illegal? 2 stars.
So I dug into their 55 reviews as of right now. 3 of the 55 people have the last name Kaghazi, including the owner Spencer Kaghazi. 34 of the 55 people have either one or two reviews. I'll let the reader decide whether any of that seems like review score manipulation. I personally don't believe in coincidence. 1 star.
By the way, credit where credit is due. The repair itself, they did a good job and they did it in a reasonable amount of...

Read moreOn 7/7/23 my son got into an accident in my car. Th ine front end was damaged, but not the engine. At the advice of the AAA tow truck driver, we had it taken to Fantastic Finishes to get repaired.
We were moving out of town on July 31, so we had to have my car shipped across the country when it was done 8 weeks later, and I received it on September 5. Insurance paid the shop over $10,000 to repair the front end. When I got my car back, I quickly noticed some concerning issues. There wasn’t any insulation under the hood, the air vent in front of the engine was missing the bolts that held it down and it was moving around freely, and the hood had a noticeable larger gap on the right side when closed.
I contacted the shop on September 7 and at their request, sent pictures of the areas of concern. I was told that Spencer would get back to be. I never heard from him. If I were still in Las Vegas, I would have taken it down there, but this isn’t a possibility, which he knew when he was completing the work.
I expected my car to be returned in the condition it was in prior to the accident, but this shop not only has no pride in their workmanship, but they haven’t tried to make it right. There are lots of body shops to choose from in Las Vegas, and I wish we’d gone with a more conscientious one, because now we’ll be out more money to have the mistakes made by Fantastic...
