Iâm a traveling Healthcare worker. I used this location for my dog while I was on contract in the area. I started in August sending my dog to daycare here every Friday. I made a standing reservation every Friday for my dog because I had to work and check out of the hotel. Didnât have any issues the first month and a half ish. The only notification I ever received from them was a doggy report card. On 10/11 I went to drop my dog off and was told his shots are no longer up to date and they wouldnât take him. They waited until 30 minutes before I went on shift at the Hospital to notify me of this. There is nothing I could do at this point since I donât live in the area. I had to miss a day of work because of this. They tried to tell me that theyâd emailed me about this but I have all emails proving they were lying. They then said I didnât have a reservation, but I was booked there through to the week of thanksgiving. I never contemplated what would happen if they just donât take your dog. Youâre stuck. They are not reliable which in my opinion is the second most important aspect of a doggy day care. They did at least treat him well when he was there, but itâs definitely not worth the hassle. There are so many other dog places in the area I strongly recommend you try one of them.
Reply to the owner: right off the bat you are lying. I very carefully spent 45 minutes booking all the dates with your staff. Every Friday up until Thanksgiving, and the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week. As far as threats go this is it. All the reviews I left you and the âdo not useâ lists I placed you on with our professional resources. Only a moron would have interpreted it any further. The police officer I talked to had a good chuckle about it. They hadnât dealt with your business since your very own dog attacked a customer. That was interesting to learn about. Apparently youâre not big on leashes. As far as this excuse as to why I didnât receive an email, sure. Since youâve already lied I donât know what to believe. I did talk to your staff on that Monday also, and the shot issue was also not brought up then. If anybody is reading this far donât buy into the Google rating. All the negative reviews drop off leaving you with a dire high approval rating. This Jim guy also owns the Iowa City location. If you do your due diligence youâll find his own dog has attacked customers and injured other dogs under his care while at his locations. The police officer he tried to sick on me warned me about how bad this company is and told I was lucky to get my dog out of there. They have been blackballed by the biggest traveling healthcare organization in the US....
Read moreI recently boarded my dog, Scout, at Lucky Pawz and we had a negative experience. I have boarded Scout many times before and never had an experience like this - she has always done great with boarding. However, when I picked Scout up from Lucky Pawz, she was extremely anxious....panting excessively, shaking, crying, cowering, and would not settle.
A few hours later, I noticed large masses on her upper lips that were suspicious. She had never had anything like this before. She also started having bloody stools that night, so I booked her an appointment with the vet. After taking her to the vet, exams and testing, and a second vet weighing in, they determined that the masses on her lips were caused by some physical trauma that occurred during boarding. They felt a possible cause may have been a muzzle due to the pattern of the masses and that they were blistered. Her stool was also negative for anything infectious, so they determined it was stress colitis. Something she had also never had before.
She was at Lucky Pawz for less than 72 hours during which all of this occurred. Additionally, I had multiple interactions with the staff in which they were rude and I was lied to about the care Scout received.
For weeks after, Scout had terrible separation anxiety and would cower whenever people would come near her. Luckily, she has made a full recovery from the ordeal. We are very disappointed and saddened about the care we received at Lucky Pawz and will not be boarding there again, nor recommending...

We take our dogs to Lucky Pawz in North Liberty regularly for daycare and overnight boarding - ranging from a single day or night to upwards of a week. The staff is always friendly and attentive to our dogs and also communicates well with us about boarding, feeding, medications, vaccinations, and any questions that come up.
We really like their online reservation system, too. Itâs been very useful for making last minute reservations and planning dates well into the future.
Finally, we love the âreport cardsâ that we get when our dogs are boarded! Pictures of our dogs are sent to our phones! We love seeing our dogs while we are away! Over time, we see some familiar dogs that our dogs hang out with while they are...
