Read moreMy family visited Tin Roost for the first time Saturday. We arrived at lunch time and were seated right away.
Our waitress came by with water in a bottle (we love self serve water so we don't have to bother the waitresses/waiters.) I'm sure we could have asked for some, but ice in the glass would have been nice. We ordered immediately.
On the first trip, my husband and I generally try to order something different so we can try each other but for some reason he chose the same. We both ordered the chicken tortilla salad. It was huge and very tasty. It has a good flavor but some of my chicken was burnt. I had to skip a couple of the pieces. My next critique is my personal opinion. I would like the dressing on the side and will order it that way next time. Since I was only able to eat half, the portion I took home was a little soggy due to being mixed. Please, more beans and corn.
Our daughter had the cheeseburger and fruit cup. I realize it's a child's burger but there are no toppings other than cheese.
Our waitress did disappear a lot so we had to have the server get her. Apparently he only heard "get the waitress" and not where we asked for the bill. She came by, asked if we wanted a to-go box. You would think if you bring back a to-go box that you would also bring back the bill? Nope, she didn't, she dropped off the box and left. When she came back out she had drinks for another table and then immediately went to the next table and took their order.
I went to the vehicle with our daughter and left my husband there to wait for the bill. This next part was odd, I don't know if she's used to asking it, but she asked him if it was separate orders. If it was a separate orders, I've already walked out without paying. And no, we are a family sitting here. We are one bill.
For us, our first meals were good but service needs tweaking.
On a side note, they have booths, tables both low and high inside. Outside. They have a huge patio with outdoor seating and some TVs. Looks like they have live music sometimes. Speaking of music, we were seated right underneath their speaker so it was a little bit...
Read moreTragic experience at Tin Roost in North Liberty, IA last night! We were looking for something quick and easy to simply fetch so that we could get to our appointment, but that in a nutshell did not work out. We ordered online on their own website at 6:04 PM with a pickup time of 6:29 PM. I arrived at 6:26 PM and as per their instructions I gave them a call to let them know that I was here to pick up the order when it ready. They of course could not locate the order and asked how I paid. I said on your website. They said is it "door dash" and I said no, I simply paid using Apple Pay which was presented as one of the two options. The other option was Toast. They must have found the order and then they said that it would be 10 minutes and that I needed to move my car from the pickup parking spot into the circle (roundabout). I don't know why they could not have walked a few extra steps to where I was parked, which I thought was a designated spot. Anyway, I moved the car to the circle. Then there was an elderly couple who were dropped off outside of the circle, meaning that they had to walk further to get into the restaurant. This made me feel bad as I was just parked in the area that you think would be reserved for dropping off and picking people up. The elderly lady game me a nice smile as she gently walked by my vehicle. 20 minutes later we get the food. We get home and the burgers were not cooked done, actually still raw in the middle. $60 for a couple of burgers with fries and two overpriced desserts. They must have tried to hurry the order. Anyway, never again. There are plenty of places to get a good meal in the area, more popping...
