Fresh Foods — Local services in North Platte

We went Christmas Eve, they were open til 5, closer than Wal-Mart and since just for groceries far less likely to be a zoo. We were correct. They were out of a few things we wanted but didn't necessarily need. No big deal since as far as I could tell they were mostly very well stocked and the outs given the holiday were quite low. It's a decent size with a decent variety for a quick trip. I disnt see any employees on the floor to ask any questions but i disnt really have any either. Also the cashier was nice enough to say hello and ask if we had a rewards card but beyond that nothing. Then again she was working on Xmas Eve so eh, I get it. Now the prices aren't near as low as Wal-Mart but despite working for the giant corporation I love to support local business. And a few of their "on sale" items were actually very competitive. Overall a great little store in a place that could use a few options....

Very, very expensive. Very poor quality fresh food. I have, through several meat purchases, got old pork chops, that were beyond dates, smelled bad and discolored to look fresh, hamburger that was old and smelled very bad. Rancid ham. If you're on fixed, retired income, forget purchasing here. Just because it's local, doesn't mean better, just means this store has a monopoly in the area. Personally, I shop out of town and done so for several years now. Have out of town doctors, so that's my routine. I also shop and purchase online, don't have to drive, park, fight rude, stupid people. I also support our Farmers Market. Always good customer service. Reminds me of a mini King Supers in Colorado. Great sales. Beats other competitors in sales. Love the little eatery. The only negative is at times the store will have a spoiled meat smell when you walk in or ammonia smell as you walked by the meat counter. I did purchase a pound of prepacked hamburger that had strong odor when frying it. I didn't buy any hamburger for awhile. Gave it another try months later. Was fine.
