This place has gone down hill!!! LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS, DON'T TRY TO FIT YOUR OWN NARATIVE AND CONSIDER COST IN YOUR CARE. IF SOMETHING IS NOT NESSARY DON'T DO IT. WE WILL NOT BE BACK. MY DAUGHTERS CARE WAS THE LAST STRAW!!
Today I brought my daughter in with a private rash. I KNEW it had to of come from some type of water (wet clothing, pool ect). We waited almost 3 hours just for the exam! Now I know it's an ER and they are busy, but was close to empty. More chatter in the nurses station than anything. Finally the Dr's" did the exam, then the Dr looks at me and said "it doesn't appear to be an STD. WHAT???? My mind NEVER EVEN WENT THERE. my children are safe, loved and PROTECTED always. Next he says he is sending over cream and leaves the room. Now my daughter hasn't gone pee in hours and nobody has handed us a cup so far. I figured we were done. About 10 min after the Dr left the room, she asked to go pee. I let her go. 15-20 min later a nurse comes in with CUP. I said no way she just went! We did try for about 45 min. But that should have been the FIRST THING THEY DID. Not worry about imaginary problems. I LEFT I was so mad. I went to the pharmacy (15 min before they close thank god) and took my daughter to ShorePoint. Within 2 hours, she was diagnosed with strep throat, a UTI and rash from water. Given antibiotics and is finally resting after 7 hours of medical care. If this place would have LOOKED AND LISTENED to the parent, her whole day wouldn't have been in misery.
This ER used to be AMAZING years ago, today I would say go elsewhere!
I am leaving the below review only because things should have gone much smoothly. I have updated my review because we have had good experience here in the past. Hopefully whatever has changed this past couple of years goes back. Yall use to be my go to for emergencies, now I am second guessing the safety and care for my family.
I am furious! I had to go to the ER yesterday. Unfortunately a couple hours in, my son contacted me and I had to go get him. I had no choice. They had taken blood, urine and did a CT scan. Upon letting the nurse know that I had to go she advised me that I could not have any paperwork but that I could call the following day and they would get me my paperwork emailed to me. I called this afternoon and spoke to a friendly person on the phone who walked me through how to request the paperwork and email it with a copy of my license. And told me to call a special number in the records department once I submitted the email to expedite my records. At this point I do not know how to treat myself or if I need to follow up with a doctor because I don't have any of my records. I completed the email request and I contacted the records department. I was connected with a woman named Pam. Pam immediately started playing the who shot John game and wanted to push me off to another lady because she didn't tell me to call and she didn't want to do the job. Before disconnecting with Pam after minutes of going back and forth on why and who told me to call them. She asked me so you want these emailed to you right? I responded Yes if we can! About an hour later I get a voicemail saying that as per my request she has mailed my paperwork to me. I emailed a response asking why they couldn't email them to me and she again replied per my request I've mailed them to you in the mail. The mail will go out tomorrow!! I'm not sure Pam knows how to do her job or how to ensure that a patient is cared for properly by getting them the paperwork they need. Disgusting...
Read moreAbsolutely atrocious. Last Thursday we took my 9 yr old daughter here after she tripped on some bleachers at school at broke her hand. They put it in a soft cast and sent her home w a ortho referral, bc they didn't do their job by not reducing the fracture, the ortho ended up sending us BACK to an ER (I went to Sarasota Memorial this time) to have it done.
To be clear- they discharged my child with a dislocated fracture.
THEN- as luck would have it- I rush my 13yr old daughter here today (simply bc she was wailing in excruciating pain & it was only 3 minutes away from her school where she hurt her hand at cheer practice)
The front desk didn't even offer ice, thankfully we arrived with our own melting bag of it. The lady who came to triage her walked into the EMPTY waiting room as slow as possible, stopped for a little leisurely chat at the front desdk before asking my dsuggter- CRYING IN PAIN- to walk to the back w her.
They put us in a room toward the back, as we walk past EMPTY ROOMS all over the place I was trying to feel relieved hoping that the abundance of staff hanging around the nursing station chatting would mean they could tend to my daughter quickly.
Ha!
We waited an HOUR before they even gave my daughter motrin- she was CRYING IN PAIN since we walked through the door.
They took the xray which showed 2 clean breaks straight through her hand- when I asked the RUDE nurse if that was all they could give her- she snapped at me saying "she's a child, yes, this is all we give children" like I wanted her to give my kid drugs unnecessarily- her freaking hand was BROKEN.
She left the room telling me xray would be in soon- the same xrays that was ALREADY IN THERE 30MIN PRIOR! When I told her it was already done she said "oh" and walked out.
AFTER ANOTHER 45MIN of watching the nurses do nothing while my kid waited for her "motrin" to work I finally walked out to the nurses station- bumping into the "doctor" on the way and asked him to come at least wrasp my kids hand so I could leave and take her to Sarasota Memorial right that second.
He looked perplexed and said he needed to see the xrays- that were taken OVER AN HOUR before- IN A VERY EMPTY ER- CLEARLY SHOWING THE FRACTURES- then he shows up in her room 10 min later w materials to set her hand, telling me he ordered stronger pain medication- like I was supposed to be thankful he finally felt the need to DO HIS JOB. I was less than pleasant with him and told him that the lack of urgency in the EMPTY emergency room was disgusting and that I would definitely be speaking to someone about it.
Finally a new nurse comes in, Chelly, she & the xray tech (I believe his name was Chris) were their only redeeming personalities. They were both caring, compassionate & informative. The only two people the entire ordeal that seemed qualified to do their jobs.
Dr Casebolt was a joke and the majority of that staff tonight clearly thought their social time shoukd take priority over my 13yr old daughter.
I am disgusted by that place.
And to make it even more ridiculous, I drove around to FOUR pharmacies afterward looking to fill the medication he sent her home with, the first 3 said they didn't have it, then finally Publix in Coco plum said "no one can fill this because of how it's written, if you give me your discharge papers my pharmacist will call the ER and get it cleared to change"
Totally inept.
So I waited another half hour for someone else to help him do his job.
There is simply no excuse for experiences like we had...
Read moreI was brought in to Sarasota Northport ER by ambulance, while choking on a large piece of steak that was caught in my throat. I could talk a little bit, but could not swallow. I was scared, frustrated, in pain, and definitely not at my best at this point. I was brought into an exam room, and since I could not swallow I needed to spit up. I got up to go to the sink and ended up spitting a couple tablespoons of water and saliva on the floor. The nurse watched me do it and began humiliating me and telling me not to vomit on the floor From now on. Embarrassed, I mopped up the few tablespoons of watery saliva and sat down. She then came in and began to take a lengthy history of requiring me to speak. finally, I, asked when I was going to get some help. Wrong thing to say! She left the room and went out into the nurses station and told all the staff that I was “nasty and combative “ a few minutes later, a different nurse came in and threw a blanket over the imaginary, already cleaned up, spit vomit and walked out, never saying word. Thenthe doctor came in and told me they were going to give me some medication to help move the piece of steak however, he had never seen it work before but it was protocol. He also told me that there was no facilities to help me and I would probably be transferred to Sarasota. He then proceeded to hand me a can of soda and told me to jump up and down. He reminded me again not to throw up on the floor because the nurses didn’t like it. during the next five hours I was vilified, humiliated and browbeaten. I was left alone in my room for an hour at a time with no one coming in to check on me. Remember, I still have this piece of stick stuck in my throat and cannot swallow or speak. Of course the piece of steak did not move, and the decision was made to send me to Sarasota. When the ambulance staff arrive to transport me, they stood in front of my exam room, shut the door and gossiped about me some more.I went over and re-opened my exam room door (that had been opened all night. Before transport arrived.) this time the ambulance driver re-shut the door and pulled the curtain lol did they think I could not hear that way? The nurse finally brought me a dose of pain medication.(of course, I had been requesting it for over an hour) oh, I don’t know if the pain medication relaxed me a little bit or maybe I was just praying hard enough, but the piece of steak moved enough that I could swallow. hallelujah! Since I did not have my purse, I asked the nurse to please call my daughter and arrange for a ride home for me. when they spoke to my daughter, they told her again that I was nasty and combative. What does that have to do with getting me a ride home? The evening ended with one more nurse walking me out to my my ride and giving me a final reminder on how I was a nasty and combative patient. I am a 60 year old, disabled woman who could barely speak. How nasty could I have been? What they didn’t know is that I have been a registered nurse for 30 years and I have a masters degree in nursing education. I recently retired from Bellevue Hospital in New York crisis unit. I was combative? Northport ER staff, TAKE YOUR MEDS, !!!!!! LOL. I’m sure my bill was thousands of dollars for an ambulance ride and a can of soda. The ignore therapy and rude treatment were complimentary. I will be filing a complaint .you can be...
