Starved Rock Entertainment — Local services in North Utica

I work at a highly ranked Escape room in Chicago so when I heard there was an escape room opening in my home town of Utica Illinois I honestly expected the worst. This place did surpass my expectations.

We did the Asylum (their hardest room) and it was difficult to say the least but every single thing made sense. Which is rare when a room has such a high difficulty rating. They did a great job with decoration/using props as well.

A few things I’d like to see changed is

Sound.

The screams are amazing, but between those screams are dead silence which can lead to immersion breaking frustration. Some background music under the screams will be a lot more pleasing to the senses.

Opening.

A video listing all rules of Do’s and Do Not’s. It seems straight forward but people are wild and will try anything. In my experience they’ll try and stick metal in light sockets and such.

Overall I’m so excited to see a place like this have such a great start and I can’t wait to see what they do!...

The escape room we played at Starved Rock Entertainment was a lot of fun! I communicated with the owner over email and she was so awesome getting my husband and I set up with just the right experience. For the two of us who are experienced players (this was our 40th room!), she recommended "The Maze." We beat the room with a couple of nudges in the right direction (only for encouragement - didn't give anything away), and 5 minutes to spare. Hopefully we can come back and try their other rooms while they are still running. If not, we will get to try their new rooms! These escape rooms are really fun!! It was my first time, I was just there to support my kids but the room was pretty challenging so I jumped in when needed, which was a decent amount, lol. The escape room was well thought out, really interesting riddles, gentle pushes in the right direction, had an engaging story line. All around a good time.
