Emmett (hope I got his name right) from the Butcher Shop was such a nice person. My wife and I went into your store for the first time ever and it was around 8pm on Monday August 18. As we approached the butcher shop and was glancing around he walked over and asked very politely if he could help us find anything or if we needed any help at all. It was so nice to see that employees still show so much customer care. We walked by many employees and though they were all professional this particular employee stood out to us as going above and beyond to make sure we felt appreciated in the store. Needless to say my wife and I are going to be revisiting the Big Y grocery store multiple times and will be saying nothing but great things about it. Sometimes all you need is that one employee who still has that way from a long time ago that makes the customer feel like their presence in a store matters and whoever the owners are must be welcoming great people because their employee certainly was. He is a great reflection of what customer service should always be like. We chatted for a bit more and he gave my wife and I some tips on some fun restaurants in the area and even how to request and order brisket from the store. He was very knowledgeable and when we asked how long he has been a butcher he said im hoping to be moving up to butcher status soon for now I am just doing the best job I can in the role I am currently in. Well we are sure we will see him again and witness him moving up and achieving more and more because he has a passion for his job and it shows! So please whoever is reading this feel free to share this review with him because employees like that are special and hard to find. You've got customers who will be returning based on our wonderful experience thanks to your amazing employee. Thanks again!!!!...
Read moreI am from Maine and was down in Norwich with my two year old visiting my husband who is down there for work. We needed some groceries and my husband suggested this place so I took his rewards card, our daughter, and headed out.
I was instantly impressed when I walked into the store by the layout, cleanliness, and quality of the produce!
Some of the sale prices didn't really seem like much of a sale, but some were truly fantastic! (In fairness though, I am not familiar with Connecticut pricing so it could just be a price difference due to being a different state so I didn't think much of it!).
The staff however was the BEST part! The one we saw stocking shelves greeted us with a wonderful smile, the gentleman that cashed us out was SO great with my daughter and just a real joy to deal with (especially after a long car ride and an afternoon with a napless two year old), and the lady that helped bagged us was just as great with my daughter and started to talk with me about her young daughter as well. I don't think I have EVER had such friendly service as at a store and it was not only fantastic, but actually turned my whole mood/day around and reinvigorated me for the rest of the evening ahead with my napless toddler and I could not be more grateful! :)
Excellent shopping experience all around and HIGHLY...
Read moreTerrible customer service in the pizza and grinder department, I ordered four sheet pizza's for our summer camp on the 25th in the morning for Friday the 26th at 11:30. The gentleman who took our order read it and confirmed it on the phone. I went to pick it up at 11:40 waited patiently , there was three staff the guy making the pizza and two ladys making grinders not one person spoke to meor said I will be right with you. When Denise finally spoke too me she was rude and stated that my order was for 1:30 not 11:30 as she had a standing order at 11:30 and would not have taken our order for that time. Not once during the conversation was she pleasant or kind and was very rude she asked the cook how long would it take for him to make our order which he said 30 minutes. This put our camp lunch well behind as our camp goes to 3:30 and Friday's are fun Friday's. The pizza dough had alot of air bubbles and was very chewy very skimpy on the toppings . We will not be ordering again from this Big Y. They did comp one of the pizza's and the gentleman said sorry for the confusion . None of the three staff had any...
