Beautiful course — bad customer service. I would NOT recommend this course, whether new to golf or not, if you’re looking for helpful attendants. At first experience, the clubhouse where we checked in, the retail associate (an older guy at the counter around 1:30PM on 2/16) had a nasty attitude. We tried to get clarification on where to go and all the associate did was huff and puff because he was using golf terms that we weren’t familiar with. After that, we finally got our cart and all seemed fine. It is maintained very well but the Marshalls are out for blood. They came up to us and watched our game as if they were looking for a reason to come up to us. After we finished, we were met with a separate guy (working for the course) asking “how many are ACTUALLY golfing?” I was appalled by the question as it was obvious that we all paid (4 of us) and that we were ALL playing. Marshall stated we all needed our own clubs, which we did, and said that we had to use “our own individual clubs” because I used someone else’s in my party for a specific drive. I just think it’s completely nonsense to come up and mention something that 1. Isn’t laid out when we signed up for our tee time and 2. Isn’t provided in the hand book that I found on their website. If that’s such a big deal, make it know when we sign up or make people sign a waiver to acknowledge it. I would’ve understood if it was stated somewhere and not rudely brought to me when I was just enjoying time with friends. Aside from that, it is a nice course. Hole 13/14 are unbelievable views and many photo opportunities. Unfortunately, the customer service put a nasty taste...
Read moreThis course really was overrated in my book. Before all the hate flys, think realistically here. Nothing was special until holes 13,14, and 15, other than that, this was a pretty average golf course.
For being a military course, it checked the boxes. Everything was cheap and getting a tee time was easy. However, the older gentleman in the pro shop is rude. He honestly shouldn’t be working on a base with how he treats people. I checked in for my tee time 25min early and he told me I was late. While I was waiting for rentals, I was looking at the ball markers and he rudely told me to come back. When I came back to the club house at 6:20pm, I informed him that I would be flying out in a few hours and asked to use the showers. I asked if there was anyway I could have a few extra minutes and again, he told me NO. He said that they close at 6:30pm on the dot. Very compassionate. Oh and the rentals he gave me were TRASH. I asked for a better pair, and with a bit of attitude, he gave them to me then charged an extra 10$. So again, pro shop guy, terrible, starter was great though.
Back to the course, it was average. It was also very slow. They get booked out easily and it takes about 5.5 hours on the weekend to play. Every hole was decently kept but again, nothing crazy. Basically, the best part about this course is Hole 13. The view was incredible. But you can’t say it’s the most beautiful course in the world because of that. The greens and fairway definitely weren’t as lush as many of the courses I’ve hit in New England that have winters… either way, if you have base access, it’s worth playing for...
Read moreNot sure who "A Google User" is or if the person is affiliated with the DOD. Who cares. A DOD course caters to its primary clientele who can range from a General or Master Gunnery Sergeant all the way down to the basic private who never played the game before. Want to prove you belong on Tour, go play Waiale. With that, my son and I played there Friday morning before a noon shotgun.
Off at 0724 as a 2 some sandwiched between three foursomes and a threesome behind us and who knows behind them. Our round took 3 hrs 20 minutes. I shot 75, my son shot 98. We took a ton of pictures of the ocean holes, did some extra early putting and just had the most enjoyable time I've spent on a golf course in the last 25 years when I played Pebble Beach.
Staff... Ms Nguyen (sp?) was uber-helpful getting us checked in, provided a set of super rental clubs [Nike or Ping choice] , range balls, and on our way. It had been 10 years since I last played there and the conditioning was vastly improved and the scenery still awesome. Will be tough to get me to play elsewhere on future...
