SUPER awesome experience and a great way to spend our morning on the Leeward Coast! Very helpful for beginners who want to learn to surf!

Mikey and Talia were absolutely incredible--patient, informative, accommodating, and super easy to chat with. By the end of the lesson, they felt like friends. My husband and I were COMPLETE novices to the sport, but they did an excellent job of getting us out there and surfing in no time! We could tell that they absolutely love the sport and enjoy sharing their passion with others.

We got a call the day of our reservation letting us know that the waters were too choppy and unsafe to surf, so they quickly rescheduled us to a day and time that fit our schedule with no issues or qualms! We were thankful that they put our safety first and made helpful accommodations with no issue. The day we surfed had very small, mild waves, but it was perfect for beginners!

We booked the 1 hour private lesson, and since we were the last of the day (and there are no clocks in the ocean), we got to practice our skills for a tad bit longer, the whole time with enthusiasm from our instructors. We got one-on-one attention and they stayed by our sides the entire time. They provided us with boards, water shoes, and surf gear to put over our bathing suits.

We surfed at Kapolei and met at a campground off Eisenhower Road. Pay attention to the directions they give you in your confirmation email, since the beach location can be a little tricky to find from the road. The campground nearby provided showers, however they were outdoor/exposed and didn't seem to be well-maintained. Not on HNL at all, but something to be aware of.

LOTS of photos were taken from the beach, which did a great job of both making us look cool and capturing our hilarious fails.

Be prepared for a WORKOUT--especially in your arms. The paddling is no joke. Granted, I have minimal upper-body strength and still survived and thrived. If you are confident in your swimming ability, you should have no issues in the water.

All in all-BOOK THEM FOR YOUR SURFING LESSON. It was an amazing experience that gave us a whole new love and appreciation...

My husband and I scheduled surf lessons with these folks during our honeymoon and we were super pleased with them. I'm not a small lady and I was worried about being treated negatively because of that so I looked for a place that was going to be kind and fun. HNL totally delivered. We had private lessons. Chase and David were great-super helpful, super friendly, and super knowledgeable. Their spot on the beach was easy to find and easy to park at. We were greeted right away with big smiles and we got geared up and on our boards fast. Waves weren't super awesome, but we knew that already because HNL had called us to tell us and to check and see if we wanted to cancel. Since we were first timers, we assured them we wouldn't hold Mother Nature's calm mood against them and we just wanted to be out on the ocean. I think the ocean was perfect really because it gave me a chance to get my balance and figure out how to paddle around.
