I really enjoy going to Tehan Greenhouses every spring. It's a bit of a drive for me but absolutely worth it. In fact, if you didn't know it existed you might not know that it's open to the public.
Parking is a bit of a nightmare when they're busy or if it's rained recently. Come early or come late or at least wait until it dries out. Everything is spread over a large area so be prepared to walk and make sure you grab a cart no matter what. If you decide you need one halfway through your trek it'll take a while to get back to the front.
The flowers and plants here are absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny. There are local businesses and even other local garden stores that purchase their flowers to resell (at a higher price). Cut the middleman out and come right to the source. The hanging baskets are HUGE and last all summer. It's just peaceful to walk in the greenhouses sometimes and see the sea of color from all the flowers.
Customer service isn't the best as it's next to impossible to find an employee out and about in the greenhouses. And by the time you do find one you're usually out of breath from walking so far. But if you know what you're looking for then definitely come to Tehan's for all your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would have given a higher score BUT this is based on their customer service...or should I say lack of... In some of the reviews this seemed to be the issue and we probably should have paid more attention to that. We work too hard for our money to spend it some place where it doesn't seem like your business is really appreciated. This was our first time there and also our last time. I like to shop where they're a little more friendly... It only takes a few employees to ruin an experience and after the rude encounter I was done...I didn't even want to purchase all the flowers and vege plants we had picked out, but the hubby said just buy them but forget the baskets we wanted to get...and let me just say we were looking for 10 - 12 baskets to go around the deck and pool area... I'm sure it's no loss to them but again I'll spend our money someplace else. I will say the flowers were gorgeous. A little pricey, but very nice looking plants. The baskets are 33.00. Would I recommend them? No ...I like at least some sort of friendly acknowledgement... Yes... if you don't mind rudeness ... this is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is for the owners. On 4/29/2020, I contacted Tehan for a gift certificate for a family member in Greendale. The employee who called me back this morning, 5/2 at 8:30 am CDST, woke me up (I live in a different time zone). I had several questions before I placed my order and the employee was impatient, and told me that she was "on the clock". I asked her if I could call her back (I did not have my credit card in bed with me), to which she responded "no, I am on the clock until 7 pm". She had no idea how large of a gift certificate I was going to buy, and obviously did not see my "gift card" as a sale (as evidenced by the comment that she was "on the clock" several times). Considering the Stay at Home orders that the entire country has been under (not just her), I felt that her impatience was inappropriate and definitely bad for business, despite the fact that it was a Saturday morning and they had just reopened May 1. I decided to not buy the gift...
