A dentist that takes time and a team that really cares.
I recently moved from the Maplewood area to the Stillwater area, so just far enough way that we needed to find new providers for just about everything.
Right away the first thing that impressed me about this office was the front office staff. For whatever reason, our dental insurance is incredibly difficult to access. It has been a headache for the entire family. The front office staff here spent several days, calling several different offices, all trying to figure out our insurance before we arrived. I appreciated that they were willing to go that far for their clients.
I also liked that they helped me find a time to bring both my kids in for a visit at the same time. When we arrived we were also brought to a larger room in the back, which was great for my 1.5 year old. It is those small thoughts and details that really make a difference.
The hygienist and dentist were both fabulous. They made a big emphasis on this being a positive and calm experience for the boys. So if at any point the boys wanted to stop, that was it. I know that going to the dentist for me wasn't a scary experience because she always made sure I felt safe. I really appreciated that there was a similar emphasis here. Of course they have TV's above the chair, which I wish they had for adults, so that definitely helps make the dentist a positive place.
I want to say too that this was the first pediatric dentist my kids have had that took the time to really sit and talk with us. The previous dentist we went to actually forgot he had met me until the third or fourth visit. The dentist here really took the time to not only talk to me, but talk to my kids and build rapport with them. She also pointed out that my son's tonsils looked slightly larger than normal, and it might be worth looking into. Thanks to her recommendation we are scheduling a tonsil removal at the recommendation of an ENT. I really appreciated her willingness to take time and to think about health more inter-connectedly (I wouldn't have gone to an ENT had she not...
Read moreWe’ve been going to St. Paul Pediatric Dentistry for two years, ever since my son was two years old. Up until recently, we had no major issues. However, our most recent visit in October or November left a bad impression and ultimately led us to switch providers.
During that visit, the dental hygienist we interacted with was surprisingly rude and dismissive. While I was quietly using my phone in the back (as I’ve done during past visits), she abruptly told me I wasn’t allowed to be on my phone and that if I wanted to use it, I’d have to sit in the front. I was taken aback, not only because of the harsh tone, but also because no one had ever mentioned this policy to me in the past. In all our previous visits, I had never been told phones weren’t allowed in the back, so the sudden enforcement and the way it was delivered felt unnecessary and uncomfortable.
I still don’t understand what triggered such a cold interaction. It’s unfortunate because up until then, we had been fairly happy with the care. But communication and mutual respect are incredibly important in any pediatric setting. I left that day feeling disrespected and uneasy, which is the opposite of how any parent should feel in a place that’s supposed to make children and families feel safe.
We’ve since decided to take our son elsewhere, and while it’s disappointing to leave a practice after so many visits, that experience made it clear it was time...
Read moreI would give them 100 stars if I could. Our little one was terrified for dental due to the trauma before stepping into their door. I was so thankful when I saw the smiles throughout the whole time yesterday when we were there. Here are some reasons why I like them:
They smiles A Lot. Every single person.
They asked about our little one’s doll’s name, and treated that little doll very well even.
They respected parents’ choices. We had been suffering from the guilty of the decisions such as the toothpaste we use or the treatment plan we want from other dentists. But when we were there, they don’t judge us!
They showed us hard copy list before the treatment started and explained everything to make sure we understood.
They used baby English. Finally! We found a dentist office that can talk in a way that we can understand! As a nonnative parent, that’s super helpful!
Very clean environment
They have tv on ceiling and Bluetooth headphones for the child, our little one had a relaxing time laying down. That’s smart!
They make the treatment clear by steps, and make in an easy way about it. I felt so much relieved when I left there.
After trying so many dentists and clinics, this is the place we will stay! Even my husband hopes they will treat adults too! I will be their first patient...
