I’ve been shopping at Habitat for Humanity for about four years now, and I can honestly say that the main reason I keep coming back is because of Locksley. She is absolutely amazing. From the very first time I met her, she made me feel welcome, seen, and appreciated — something that’s hard to come by these days. Every single time I walk through those doors, she greets me with a warm smile, remembers my name, and takes the time to ask how I’ve been. It might seem like a small gesture, but to me, it means everything.
Locksley goes so far above and beyond for every customer. She works incredibly hard, and it shows in everything she does — from the beautifully put-together displays to the way she helps people find exactly what they need. You can tell she truly cares about her job and about the people she serves. There’s such an authenticity about her — she doesn’t just “do her job,” she makes a difference.
There have been many times when other staff barely even notice I’m there, but Locksley always takes that extra step to make me feel valued. She’s patient, kind, and full of positive energy. Even on the busiest days, she manages to make everyone around her feel important. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely loves what they do and treats people with such compassion and respect.
After four years of coming here, I can honestly say that I only want to shop when Locksley is there. She makes every visit special. The store just feels brighter when she’s around. Habitat for Humanity is truly lucky to have someone like her — someone who puts her heart into everything she does and makes every customer feel like family.
In my opinion, Locksley is the heart and soul of this store. She makes every visit enjoyable, and I honestly only want to shop when she’s there. Habitat for Humanity is lucky to have someone like her — hardworking, friendly, and passionate about helping others.
Thank you, Locksley, for always making my experience such a positive one. You’re amazing! — thank you for all that you do! You’re the reason I keep coming back all these years, and I hope you know how much your kindness and hard work mean to people like me. These 5 Stars are for Locksley and Locksley only. You...
Read morePriced like everyone going in there is a liberal do gooder making 400K a year and wants to spend 3k for bathtub. Used to be a place where you can find a box of screws for a decent price and remnants of floor tile you might be able to finish out a bathroom in that was a fair price and even occasionally get a great deal. There prices are so close to retail and there is no return policy. I purchased a stove from them got it home reconfigured the cabinets to accommodate the thing and it did not work. I would never buy another appliance from them if their policy remains. It aint worth the headache and it will cost you more. The doors aint perfect and need adjustment to install them and they are pricing them as if they were new. Thought the place was to help people out a bit. I rather go to Lowes or Home Depot or Contractors ware house and get what I need new. -- On a side note about 3 years ago I wanted to donate a couch and love seat. It was in good shape. It was the brand Ethen Allen. Not stained or anything, no rips or tears no cat turds in it. They did not want to take them... on the way out the door a Mexican fella asked if I wanted to sell them straight to him...... Well given that I was gonna give them to the place for free I passed them off to him and he was tickled pink and soooooo appreciative. That to me at least is what it is about.. Helping people out with just enough to make their day a tad better... This place is just greedy at this point.
They absolutely did not take a refund as I went back with the stove and they said no refunds. My only salvation is that the metal recycler was not...
Read moreThis is a comment to the "owner's" very condescending response to Carol Ross's review 9 months ago:
First of all you state that "...Some donations are very inexpensive items..." (see below for full quote), which you price accordingly, then you state the following about the "high quality" items donated: "...Rather than turn these donations down we sell them at a fraction of what they are worth..."
"...We receive a wide variety of donations from generous families and businesses in the Bay Area. Some donations are very inexpensive items and materials, which we sell at very affordable prices. Other items, such as the Ethan Allen bed you mentioned, are extremely high-quality, high-value products. Rather than turn these donations down, we sell them at a fraction of what they are worth..."
This is what I have a hard time understanding: Why on earth would you ever turn these donations down? It makes no sense! These items are DONATIONS which means you don't pay one penny for them! You make money off all DONATIONS, correct? Because some DONATIONS are "higher quality" than others doesn't justify what you are doing. I thought HHR's were supposed to support the community; just because someone doesn't have deep pockets shouldn't mean they aren't entitled to have nice things. Your greed is giving a wonderful organization a very bad reputation! Not to mention discriminating against those who are less fortunate than the "generous families" who donate to your...
