World Champion Smokehouse & Market — Restaurant in Oakland

Champion Smokehouse and Market was a recommendation from one of my Facebook friends. It is located in the deep heart of East Oakland. The purpose of my visit was to try their barbecue. My husband and I ordered the two way combo dinner of ribs and links. The two sides were baked beans and potato salad. I also ordered a side of coleslaw. The "cue" and the sides were on point. Our mistake was asking for mild sauce. It was too mild and did not have enough kick. Next time we will order it with medium sauce.

There is a lot of heavy traffic on the main thoroughfare of 98th Avenue. If one is across the street from Champion Smokehouse, one can wait for a while before making a left turn to reach their driveway.

It is also best to go during the day, as the area could be a bit sketchy in the evening. When one is the 'hood of 98th & Edes, please be vigilant of the surroundings. Otherwise, the "cue" is very good and the owner is pleasant...

I love champion smokehouse The food is amazing. They always have a lot customers it's always crowded because the food is so delicious but even then you still get good speedy service ¹ The owner is amazing and the little lady behind the counter that always does the she's hella cool and patient cuz every single time I ask her what's the size option and every single time she explains them to me. I love this place. I would give it six stars. I recommend it to any and everybody. The food options are crazy delicious also, the butcher has fresh meat. It's a One-Stop shop. Anything you want is there I bought some meat from the butcher area and for some reason they weren't taking cards. Today my order came to 22 and I only had 18. I ran across this place by accident. It is on 98th Ave., East Oakland.Some might not think the neighborhood is very nice, but there is parking and the barbecue was good for the most part. I did ask for my barbecue to be on my meat because it was very good dark, But they put it on the side instead. You have the choice of getting lunch or dinner. The dinner is gonna cost you a little bit more but it’s a lot of meat.The sauce was rich and seasoned just right I got the beans and the mac & cheese.
