Just had my first experience flying out of Oakland International Airport and I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed. Compared to the larger airports I've used in the past, OAK feels incredibly small. While it does have all the basic necessities, everything is way overpriced. I mean, $50 for a chicken taco and a couple of cups of beer? Ridiculous!
To make matters worse, the chicken taco I ordered had a foul smell and I couldn't even bring myself to eat it. The airport administration really needs to look into the quality of their food vendors. It was a terrible experience and definitely not what I expected.
On top of that, I was denied access to the American Express lounge, even though I had my card on my app. The woman at the entrance was so unprofessional, insisting that I needed a reservation beforehand. It's frustrating when you have all the necessary credentials but still can't enjoy the amenities.
However, I must say that the security gate personnel were friendly and greeted me with a smile. It was a small silver lining in an otherwise disappointing experience.
Overall, my first time at Oakland International Airport left a lot to be desired. I hope they take these issues seriously and work towards improving the overall customer experience. #OAKAirport...
Read moreOakland International Airport is smaller compared to other airports like SFO, but that's precisely what makes it accessible for easy pick-up, and drops. Its compact size ensures you won't get lost, and the added bonus of free transportation from the BART station to the airport is a fantastic service, even if you haven't personally used it. It's a valuable resource for travelers, and the convenience is highly appreciated.
I visited Oakland International Airport recently to drop off my dad, and I must say, the initial line we encountered upon entering was shockingly long, a sight I hadn't seen in years. We patiently waited for 45 minutes until it finally moved along swiftly once they opened up. The TSA line, on the other hand, was quick and efficient.
On a positive note, I noticed some thought-provoking advertisements in the hallways addressing important issues like animal abuse, cruelty, and human trafficking. It's great to see such awareness efforts for all travelers to read and contemplate.
As we left the airport, we were met with an unpleasant odor of sweetened raw fish and sewer lakewater, which provided an unfortunate introduction to the city. I'm not sure how long this smell has lingered, but it's definitely a concern that should be addressed as soon...
Read moreI've been there several times. The BART station is outside the airport. I didn't know where to buy the ticket or where to catch the train. I went only 1 stop from the airport but my ticket was high. It turned out they count the airport rate differently. The second time, I was going to San Francisco but the flight was cancelled. I was given an option to go to Oakland. I thought I'd take the BART to San Francisco. I had about 90 mins from getting out of the train and the meeting in San Francisco. By the time I went to San Francisco, it took me 2 hours! Therefore I don't recommend BART from the airport unless you are not in a rush. When I was coming back, my flight delayed. All the food places were closed by 8pm. I was so hungry that I had to get a cold bagel from Starbucks. Their oven was closed and therefore they couldn't have toasted the bagel. Then I came across with their breastfeeding station. Pictures are the sunrise outside the airport and the...
