I have been to this shop & range many times and I am seriously considering buying a membership.
PROS: It is owned by at least one cop that I know of The employees are very friendly. Safety is a big deal out there (which makes it MUCH safer than going to the range in the forest) It has electronic target lanes - so you can send your target to "x" yards and retrieve it easily It is staffed by people who really know guns They are trying hard to find a facility in Ocala for an indoor rifle range They allow me to bring my very responsible and educated children in to shoot their .22's
CONS: It is usually pretty damn busy, sometimes making me have to wait for a lane to open
Listen, Ocala suffers from a lack of range options. You could drive all the way up to Beckwith's, which is a fine shop, but their range is horrible. Or you could drive all the way to the villages to a gun shop there, which I have been to several times and found to be full of grouchy old people as far as customers go. Finally, you could go to the free range in the forest, which is almost always full of anti-government militia types who have no range discipline at all. I was almost shot twice.
OR, you could go to a clean, nice range run by responsible 2nd Amendment supporting Americans. Spend a small amount of money and have a safe, fun experience. You will have staff on hand to help. I watched them help some idiot a few months ago who NEVER had cleaned his weapon and he couldn't understand why it was jamming.

   Read moreThis place has been gone down a bit. The range master is an older man that is a bit rude. I did not mind that. I did mind being told that i had to leave for something i didn't do. The Range master which i am guessing he is looking in a camera and not actually on the range. That is the first problem. Second problem. He told us that just a couple weeks ago some one was shot, and he is worried about the owner losing the insurance. If he was that concerned he should have been put there. I was yelled at because i was walking up fire arms opened with no ammo instead of bringing my entire case full of guns at one time. Which made no since. Then comes the Range Master friends. Apparently his friends that he knew were ok to To do this and also doing rapid firing right beside us and walking backwards as he was firing. But he didn't get thrown out. Then as he was kicking me out stated i will collect my weapons . Umm no. I told him that the other people that i was with could pick them up. I think that this could have been handled a lot better but the range master just isn't able to be customer friendly. I did not argue with the man. When i stepped out into the area where he was watching everyone through the camera he proceeded to tell me that i was leaving guns in the back outside of my case. I tried to explain to him that those were not my weapons all of my weapons were in my gun case. This place just needs a little better management...
   Read moreI would give a zero if I could! We stayed for a few hours but won't go back because the one workers attitude. The attitude/yelling was unnecessary and could've been handled by reiterating calmly, "Take your bag to your lane and get ready, our rule is NO gun is outside of the lane unless it is in a bag!" So, what happened was my husband put the bags on the table and started taking stuff out and this guy was beating on the window and visibly ANGRY, he came in, still visibly ANGRY and had us step outside where he YELLED and chastised us for opening the bags and having the guns on that table. NASTY and YELLING with a LOUD, HARSH tone. He SHOUTED at us saying obviously we weren't listening and if we do that again he will throw us out! How would it be if we were rude and shouted at the staff??? I understand the seriousness of the rules but they have to work on people skills!!! You don't YELL at your customers if you want them to come back (which we will not). Also, one employee will create a CUSTOMER to not return AND tell others about the experience! Treat others the way you want to be treated!! It is sad because the facility wasn't bad, but we have other options and don't have to be subjected to someone...
