I came into town to visit a friend and we were so excited to come to the grand opening! We love supporting independent bookstores.
Overall, it was a pretty underwhelming experience. I think we were only in the store for a few minutes because the shelves were already pretty bare and it was maybe 3 hours after they opened? We also had trouble finding the store because the sign outside was pretty small.
The inside has a lot of potential and the color scheme and furniture were so cute! However, the “soda bar” being self-served and charging $4.50 for a can of pop and flavors to add in was just a little much. I wish there were menu items you could order and have someone make it for you, especially when it’s super busy, it just made the front of the store pretty crowded.
I wish we could have seen it with more book options because there wasn’t a whole lot to look at when we went. I think we just had high expectations for a grand opening and it just didn’t deliver. It seemed like a place you go to just to take a picture for social media rather than a cool experience and cozy environment to browse...
Read moreAs a book lover, I was SO excited to have a(nother) bookstore near me. I went to their grand opening today and was rather underwhelmed. I don’t know if it was because I arrived a couple hours after the store opened and things were simply…gone or if they simply didn’t stock well enough for their crowd.
Many of the shelves were like the ones pictured—stacked books but not many. The shelves did not contain many books AT ALL.
The soda bar was also very underwhelming. I don’t mind the canned sodas being used but there was a small station across the cashier station for you YOURSELF to add in the mix-ins. The drink recipes were just in picture frames above the wall. I’d be hard-pressed to call this a “soda bar” when really it’s more like a self-serve station.
The aesthetic was cute though, and I think if you give this store a couple months to really fill their shelves with books, merch, candles, etc., it could really succeed. However, I think first impressions make a difference. I’ll return in the future with the hope that the store will be well-stocked and work out the kinks from its...
Read moreI love this little shop around the corner! It's more than a bookstore, it's an oasis of feel-good--a girly gift and craft store. (It's that popcorn and glass of wine for supper on a Friday night feeling!) Lex, the owner, is always cheerful, friendly, and remembers her customers' names and book tastes. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and ideas flow, so there's always something slated for community-spirited events, from hosting author's book signings and new-release launches, book clubs, and book-themed parties. I've been there when people just drop in to get a hand-crafted dirty soda and stay to make a bookmarkat the bookmark bar. If she doesn't have the book you want, she'll gladly order it. My fear is that the store will get too popular and move away to...
