Commitment, equipment and professionalism required in capturing and converting old precious family memories to digital media calls not only for state of the art technology but also care, dedication and creative thinking all of which I found in abundance with Larry’s LJC VIDEO SERVICES. Larry was not only prompt and efficient, but he also consistently searched and found solutions (including in his arsenal of old and new equipment) when the problems with damaged or badly recorded tapes seemed unsurmountable. He treated the materials as his personal memories. I brought to Larry a mixed basket of 8mm & supper8 film strips from 1950s, various size and standard (NTSC & PAL) VHS tapes from 1980s as well as assortment of 8mm DV and mini DV tapes from 1990s: altogether a basket of around 40 items equivalent to around 70 hours of playing time. First, in my presence he scanned and tested every single item, determined their playability, approach for conversion and sections for inclusion (thus eliminating blank unrecorded segments). Whenever he would run into problem, he would explore alternative avenues including physically tinkering with the tapes and equipment. The turnaround time for completing each batch of about 10 items was a day. Altogether, the whole job was completed in a week. After my husband passed away, I found a collection of VHS, Mini DVs, and VHS-C tapes that I wanted to get converted. At first I was going to ship them off to one of those internet services to have it done, but after reading some reviews on it, I didn't feel I could trust them 100% and I didn't want to risk it on these precious memories. I found Larry through a Google search and saw he had such good reviews about his work and felt he could be trusted. I am so glad that I took my collection here! Larry is very kind and amazing-he transferred all 22 of my tapes onto a USB in less than a week! The digital versions were even cleaned up and brightened. Larry even spent extra time on an older tape that had mold on it and was able to salvage most of it-something that a send away service would have never done I'm sure. I felt Larry treated each tape with care, as if it were his own family memories. You can tell he truly loves what he does and he has a gift. When I came to pick them up, he even allowed me to view the USB with the videos just to make sure everything looked good. The quality is amazing and for 22 tapes, the price was fair. For me these memories that I now get to see of my late husband are priceless and I am so happy that Larry was able to help me preserve them for me and my family. Larry of LJC video is highly competent and talented. I had some VHS tapes that had been in a box since the mid 90's. I am a fairly tech-savvy guy and thought I could transfer them to digital files, but the world of video is not easy to fathom. Interlacing, frame rate, etc etc, not to mention getting the sound synchronized. And my tapes were in PAL format. AND there was mold (ack!) on some of the tapes. None of this was any problem for Larry. He had the tapes cleaned and digitized and put on a memory stick in less than 24 hours. The quality of the video was simply amazing (I don't remember video being this sharp on tapes played on TV back then). We have been soaked in nostalgia watching old friends and relatives.
