Not impressed with this company at all. We needed a simple LB changed out on the main. Being that it was 240V, I didn’t want to do it myself. We had previously got a quote (this becomes important later) for $1200. There quote came in at $1200. They sent two guys and told us it was a two hour job. We acquiesced to the seemingly high price bc of the earlier quote (which happened when there was a deck covering half the LB). We also realized after the fact that the seemingly high other bid had come from Sparky’s Twenty minutes later the power kicked on and the guy came in announcing it was all set and asking to collect his $1200 check. First of all, it’s not a 2 hr job. Second of all Sparky’s doesn’t need to send two guys to change out one conduit elbow (unless of course it is 3pm and you don’t have anywhere else to bill him). Feeling like we had been completely ripped off, we went out to talked to them and ask for reconsideration on their pricing. They were less than willing to entertain the conversation. After that they milled outside around the property another 30 minutes, discussing other business and chit chatting about the day. They guy even came in and flipped the break met on and off a couple more times as if they were doing more work. You already told us you were done. This company is full of crap, takes you for as much as they can get, and spends more time looking like they are doing a bang up job than actually doing a bang up job. It doesn’t surprise me that they have good ratings but the truth is if you lift up the hood, it’s a nasty web of deception and smoke screens. Oh yeah, and the guy wanted to sell me on one of lugs being stripped out (which quite possibly could have been from him stripping it out). After all he was the last one...
Read moreWe’ve used Sparky’s a few times now for various projects and have never been disappointed. They show up when they say, and they’re always on time or early. The prices are fair and reasonable and the work is always professional…and they always clean up before they leave. I think we’ve used them on 4 occasions now and we’re always happy with the results. So, if you’re looking for a hometown, family run type electric company, I highly recommend Sparky’s. (Oh! And when they quote you a price, there’s never an up charge for some “unforeseen” issue like other’s places we’ve used over the years.) Highly recommended!
Update! (4/22/2024) My wife and I had to employ the skills of Sparky’s again due to a faulty attic fan. As I’ve stated earlier, we’ve used this company many times now as our house is over a hundred years old. Once again they showed up on time and the employee was incredibly polite and on the job immediately. I know most people don’t need an electrician as much as we may, but if you live in the Lansing area and want an honest company to work with, then I strongly suggest using Sparkys. They back up their work, and most importantly, they stick to their word. Which is incredibly rare these days. (FYI, I don’t get any kind of discount from Sparkys for reviews, I’m just retired and have the time to call them like...
Read moreSparky’s set up the electrical from my panel for a new mini split, reconnected my well pump to my panel, and added a switch and wiring for a new bathroom fan. They were about to leave when I noticed that they didn’t reinstall my original switch and install the new switch for the bathroom fan. They were going to charge me an additional $50-60 to finish the job but they ended up finding the switch installations on the original quote so they installed the switches. It would be helpful if they walked through the work before they start, to confirm exactly what’s being done. And a walkthrough at the end would be great, too. I discovered later that they moved a few switches/plugs to a different breaker on a sub panel (in a different part of the house). I got to spend 20 minutes flipping through all of my breakers to see where they moved them. Finally, even though I heard them run the vacuum before they left, I had to vacuum and clean more to clean up the sawdust, insulation, and snow and dirt that came in on their shoes. I’d suggest laying down canvas or tarps wherever they work so they leave the customer’s house “cleaner than you found it“ (not dirtier). The actual electrical...
