Pink lady apples. I cannot get enough of them. I ended up searching several grocers before finding Crandall’s
Their fruit farm is amazing. It is right below the beautiful mountains in the area. Parking was pretty much empty. They have Parking right at the edge of the trees. Pretty cool. The staff I assume includes some of the family that owns the orchard. Either way, they are very pleasant and friendly. Even though they didn’t have any pink lady apples, I was able to find some that were similar. The store setup is very quaint and picturesque. Great signage, it makes the place easy to find. Even with the farm right there, it’s kept clean and organized. It appears that they rotate the stock, no bad apples in their bunch. I would highly recommend checking out Crandall’s Fruit Farm. I'm not a complainer - most of my reviews are overwhelmingly positive. But you go out of your way and pay more for a fruit orchard to get good fruit (or so I thought - perhaps I'm naive). I can get bad or inconsistent fruit at the grocery store a block away from my house. I gave two stars as I want to give Crandall's the benefit of the doubt as I've only had two peaches - based on the two i've had, one star would be more appropriate. Their firsts are generally priced equivalent with what you'd pay at the farmer's market, but the quality is immensely better (a lot of the fruit I see at the farmer's markets is lower quality than Crandall's seconds). They also fill their boxes like nobody else does (two bushels from Crandall's generally gave us 28 quarts of canned peaches or pears, compared to about 21 quarts from other's bushels), and they are just the kindest folks.
Basically, the day Crandall's opens is better than Christmas...
