We have invested significant time and money in lessons at Flip Spot, but unfortunately, the experience has not met our expectations for a high-quality gymnastics program. The gym is consistently overcrowded, which creates a chaotic and often distracting environment. Cleanliness is also a concern, as the facility is frequently very dirty.
One of the most disappointing aspects has been the lack of a robust development program. Our daughter is highly motivated and demonstrates strong skills, yet she has become bored and frustrated at her current level. The reasoning provided for not advancing her has been her "form," but the instruction and feedback on form are minimal at best. On-the-spot coaching to help her improve is noticeably absent, leaving her without the tools she needs to progress.
As a parent without a gymnastics background, I initially thought this might be a standard part of the process. However, our babysitter, who is a competitive gymnast, offered valuable insight. She was able to advocate for our daughter and assess the situation more thoroughly. Ultimately, she advised us to look for a gym that would better nurture our daughter’s potential and keep her enthusiasm for the sport alive.
Our daughter loves gymnastics, and it’s disheartening to see her enthusiasm wane due to a lack of proper instruction and engagement. We hope Flip Spot takes this feedback seriously to improve their programs and better support young gymnasts in reaching their...
Read moreI have been taking my kids to Flipspot in Lake Orion for 4 years. I have had 3 kids (ages 5, 3.5, and 18mo) go through Parent tot, and 2 onto preschool. Coming weekly for at least 3 years, sometimes multiple times a week, we have taken hundreds of classes with various instructors at flipspot. But for 3 years myself and several other participating parents have rearranged our entire extracurricular schedules specifically to be able to put our kids in Alysa’s parent tot/preschool classes. She is SO hands on, positive, sweet and does activities that begin building the skills and coordination the eventually needed to progress, starting at just 12 months! She sets very reasonable standards and expectations for each class, teaching body positions and putting great emphasis on their safety. The developmental milestones and improvements the kids have made with her is beyond palpable . As a local MHSAA Cheerleading Coach, with a strong background in tumble & cheer fundamentals…. I am always impressed by Alysa’s patient, kind and intentional instruction of such tiny humans. Alysa’s classes always have a plan, she cares for and treats all of my babies like her own. Her classes are truly worth every penny because they are such a refreshing contrast to other tumble tot classes/instructors that felt like very disorganized...
Read moreUPDATE: Since this original review, the staff at fLipSpot has helped our instructor to offer more personalized instruction. Thank you!! 4 stars for facility and equipment. 2 stars for instruction. 3 star average. Facility has a lot of exciting and challenging equipment to make class fun for kids. Parking lot is insufficient and dangerous. The instructor for my child gives very little personal attention, which I expect for the steep price. I gave fLipSpot a try because my child needs extra help with her large motor skills, not because she will be a competitive gymnast. I did not feel we received that help I was hoping for. Instructor just seems to tell kids "try this move now", but doesn't seem to have much real motivation for showing kids how and helping...
