Wish I could give 3.5 stars...
This is a nice clean place and I felt totally safe there. We've used it over the years to host relatives, and, at times, me and family members while work was being done on our house. The location is 5 stars for me because it's the closest hotel to my house, lol. The staff is super nice, and the breakfast was good and trustworthy.
I do feel like it's become a little run down lately which shows in scuffs on the wall, a tear in a couch... The decor is a LOT of grey. Some may find that professional/executive looking. I found it a little drab and sad.
As far as devices, the television only offers Netflix for streaming, and when I plugged my laptop into the t.v. with my own HDMI cord only the sound came through. I tested the HDMI cord again when I got home, and it wasn't the cord - there must have been something wrong with the television's HDMI "in" port. I noticed the last hotel I stayed at prior to this one had more streaming channels you could use your login on, so was expecting that here, too. And, the fridge only actively cools for 2 hours, then you have to press the button inside it again. The cold stays in the fridge following the 2 hours but if you are doing anything other than saving leftovers to eat a few hours later, it's a little unnerving. I started setting my alarm to push the fridge button every 2 hours as this was a 2-night stay for me. One thing that was strange but consistently noticeable was the room stayed humid even when I left the bathroom fan on all the time, despite the A.C. working great.
In this time of low staff everywhere I still really appreciate this place, the caring employees, the breakfast, and LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. There is another building going up nearby that looks like it is going to be a similar type of hotel, so I hope they get caught up soon as far as technology and aesthetic repairs before their...
Read moreWith the exception of the GM and one front desk attendant, overall the staff was generally nice and the breakfast had a decent variety of offerings.||However, upon check-in we were told the wrong checkout time and woke up to our fitted sheet on the bed being inside out and pulled off the edges of the bed. When they came to fix the bed they only made up the bed at issue and didn’t bother to make any of the other beds (they have a policy of only cleaning rooms every two days). The room also lacked any sheets for the pullout bed which we had to later obtain from the front desk. ||The pool, which isn’t anything special but kids love a pool, was closed for maintenance for most of the trip which was a prime reason we chose the hotel so you may want to call and make sure it’s open.||We found the carpet to be unusually dirty and a nice dead moth plastered next to the window shade current rod.||Last, our room was right by the smoking exit which led to a significant amount of marijuana smoke coming into the hall and room. In addition, one room in the hall consistently had a towel in the door to keep the door open at all times to allow smoke out of the room. I informed the housekeeping manager of this who assured me she would make sure doors were closed but the door remained open admitting a smoke smell throughout our entire 3 night stay.||I realize much of this is out of the hotel’s hands, I’m not one to complain and the GM offered to move our room and did eventually partially compensate us for some of the issues. But the GM was very angry when he eventually did compensate us and it seems like there are some simple fixes that could drastically improve the hotel such as moving the smoking area across the street, ensuring hotel policies are enforced and generally better housekeeping. There aren’t many options in the area to stay so I’m hoping the hotel...
Read moreThe room was nice, fresh and clean, aside from a few carpet stains. When we tried to go to the bar, the woman said "if you wanted drinks, you'll have to wait a few minutes" while she proceeded to stare at the TV and we walked away after about 10 minutes, cranky and without drinks. Also, we took the kids down to the pool around 10:00, knowing that the pool was open until 11. Around 10:50, the lights were turned off in the pool area, without warning, leaving my kids freaking out, in the pool, in the dark! I went to the desk and the guy told me that they don't normally have guests in there that late, so the lady that was also working must have flipped the switch, without checking!!! He said he would turn it back on, for us to enjoy our last 10 minutes, but then couldn't figure out how. We sat there and waited. The lights never came back on, so we went back to our room again, irritated. The next morning, I realized that we lost a pair of goggles, the night before, since we had to leave the pool in the dark, so I went to the front desk to ask about lost and found. The lady was on the phone and continued talking, without even looking up to see that I was there waiting. She eventually looked up, saw me and put a finger up as if to say "one moment," then continued talking and ignoring me. Eventually, I got the goggles and left. Also, they were out of forks at breakfast and we ate our eggs and sausage with spoons. Not super thrilled about this experience. I generally love Marriott hotels, but was not impressed by the staff...
