This is not the first bad experience that I've had with this Home Depot but this was by far the crowning glory of fail.
We live an hour out of town, and we went in to buy paint, evaporative cooler, and stuff to patch the driveway among other things. For starters, we could not find an employee to help with the coolers, then we got the most apathetic, uninvested employee in the whole store to basically shrug us off. Ended up not buying a cooler here because we could not find what we needed and they didn't seem to care.
The paint counter was better, they did a really good job matching paint and mixing it in the quantity needed.
We then proceeded to spend the next hour on what can only be described as a scavenger hunt from hell. Tons of employees, all standing around talking, none of them sure where stuff was. Ask a question, get told an isle number. Item not there. Then another employee would direct us to another location for the same item on the other side of the store.
Frustrated, hot, and exhausted, with a father in law ready to collapse in his shoes, and we proceeded to the check out with our paint and the few items that we had managed to find.
WE asked to not use self check out, and yet, we ended up with a undertrained cashier using self check out to check us out. They over charged us and when I pointed it out got met with attitude. Also pointed out that self check out takes jobs away from real people, only to be met with a front end manager raising her voice at us about how she's busier when she works self check out...maybe because she's doing the work of three people?
The customer is always right does not exist here. Proper courtesy does not exist here. My husband was so flustered and frustrated he swears we will not spend another dollar here, and after reading some reviews we haven't had it as bad as some other customers. Do yourself a favor go to the Ace Hardware first and save yourself some time and...
Read moreI just had an odd experience at Home Depot. I picked out a knob/deadbolt combo and a single knob for my front and back doors. The box says, "Quick re-key cylinder. See HD associate for details." I find an associate and ask her what it would take to get the single knob keyed as the set. She didn't know and I didn't really understand who she was directing me to, but it appeared to be the area where they plan out kitchen designs and such. She said, "Someone should be sitting at the desk." So I go over and ask a lady associate the same question. She explains to me she worked in appliances and wouldn't know. "Oh," I said. "Another associate said I should ask over here." She says, "Who said that?" I said, "An associate in plumbing." She goes, "Well, let's just go see about that." I could tell by her tone she was about to blast someone for passing the buck. We go down the main aisle and cross the electrical aisle. She says, "Him?" nodding to a guy down that aisle. I said, "No, they were in plumbing." We go past two more aisles and she goes, "Him?" nodding toward the man at the end of the aisle. I said, "No, her," pointing to the other associate in plain sight, down the same aisle, wearing the same orange apron the guy was; the same orange apron she herself wore. She goes, "Oh, she doesn't work in plumbing. She probably meant the Pro Desk over there." There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that she wasn't about to confront the lady associate, but had it been the man, she'd have gotten all up in his case. There are some women you can just sense that have a problem with men. And she's definitely...
Read moreI have experienced good service from certain individuals there but some individuals are not very helpful.. Martha is very helpful on returns..but there is a young guy with two tone hair and I think an earring and is rude to the old Korean war veteran and made a rude comment to him when he was walking by just doing his job.. he said don't crash, right when he was checking me out. I think just because the guy is old. I thought it to be rude and terrible way to treat people, if you go there in the evening say after work and they're about to close, the service is waning. Charles in plumbing and otherwise is a good guy.tonight I waited at the return counter to check out and there was three or four more people behind me..there were four people behind the counter and it wasn't good because none wanted to help and finally I just dropped my product in a box next to me and left. Thank you for the veterans discount though... I appreciate it ,but I cant wait in line when there are customer service people available but are ignoring customers.most people go there when they get off work to get things to fix up their house and they don't have a lot of time to give up. I had one guy told me that he could help me by kicking the drywall in half because he could not cut it.. I just walked away. The night manager needs to pay attention to the customer service at the checkouts toward...
