I typically love Fareway. Moved from Grinnell to New Sharon, so Osky store is closer. Loved Grinnell. Not impressed one bit with Osky! Layout is confusing. Aisles are narrow. Cantaloupe was all moldy (full melon not the prepacked half melons), purchased potatoes that were oven and grill ready only to get them home and find out they were a month out of date. Purchased boneless skinless full chicken breasts, they were wrapped improperly so parts were stuck to the paper wrapping and dried out and rotten. Checkout area is small and not enough checkers available, despite having a checker at nearly every cash register. I’m sure it was a busy time, so i’ll excuse the checker issue. Read moreFantastic grocery store. They dont have quite the dry goods and produce variety that Hy-Vee has but their prices are much better. They also have the best old school butcher/ meat counter. They cut everything in house and have a lot more meat options than anywhere else I have been, whole foods included. To top it all off all the employees wear nice uniforms, they are extremely friendly and its standard for them to bag the groceries, take them to your car, unload them, and take the cart back all with a smile. Read moreOkay, most of us shop Fairway because the meat counter, right? You really can't go wrong here unless you're looking to buy the chorizo sausage. If they could ever figure out how horribly underseasoned their chorizo is, I would go the full five stars because they go above and beyond in everything else. Maybe it's a midwest version, but most of the time you can hardly see or taste the seasoning at all. And yes, you should be able to see the difference... from across the room.
