Deer Hunters.
Think twice before taking these people a deer for processing. Things have changed. I've happily used Santa Fe Trail meats for years, but it's obvious, they are not wanting to help or make things easy like they used to for deer hunters. I feel that anyone who charges $100.00 dollars for a skinning fee is saying "We don't want your business" I skinned my deer with a borrowed knife from the owner behind their place to save $100.00 dollars. Wiped my bloody hands on the grass & wasn't even offered a rag or a place to wash up before I left. The owner did help by coming out to saw the legs off & inform me that others don't do it correctly to hang the deer & trashed deer hunters concerning the condition of deer he receives. When I went to pick up the meat, I was treated as rude as I ever have been by a business, who I thought wanted my business. I asked if they were skinning deer yet & he just laughed & said " Trying not to" . I don't have a problem skinning a deer, but there are times when you don't want the meat exposed on a trip to the locker. This was a cold morning also, so their reason wasn't due to warm weather. The owner said it was about the hair in their place around other customers processed animals. Be prepared also to pay with cash or check due to them charging extra if you hand them a debit card.
