To reach this location, take U.S. Highway 89 north to the Wahweap View (Scenic View) signs located on the east side of the road and drive up the small hill approximately 0.7 miles to a large open parking lot. This place is also known as Wahweap Overlook, but they are the same. There is plenty of parking for all sizes of vehicles and there is a small, covered pavilion with two concrete park benches along with an interpretive display. The pavilion is a great place to sit out of the summer sun and enjoy the stunning 360-degree scenery that surrounds you here. Read moreIt's hard to describe the beauty of the rock formations and river at the Lake Powell Lookout, located about a mile from Glen Canyon Dam, and close to 4 hotels in the area (Sleep Inn, Bayview Inn, Homewood Suites and Wyndham). You can walk there from the 4 hotels mentioned, or drive at sunrise or sunset. We chose to view the sunset from here. You can either view it from the parking lot area, or venture 100 steps or so down below to view it closer to the river.
