Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center — Local services in Panthersville

The attitude of the auditorium attendant (I think his name was Mr. Paul) was poor from beginning to end. The way he talked to us and talked about us to the musicians, like they wasn't gonna tell us, who does that!. The sound board as light settings were not correct and he had to call someone in to assist, which delayed our rehearsal timing, and then rushed us out the building because he was tired from being up so early. There was food over the floor inside the auditorium the day of rehearsal, he did clean it up immediately when we brought it to his attention, however the understanding was no food/drinks inside, so we were puzzles about that because obviously eating occurs in there. The back classroom that we were told we had access to was not the one we had access to on show day. Other items we were told we could use was not available to us on show day. Overall horrible experience with auditorium attendant, however I think this was a great place to host an event, nice building, very nice and spacious, the stage was nice,spacious parking, dressing rooms were nice and spacious. I was very disappointed after going to the venue several times in the past. Recently, I went to see The Wiz Returns. By intermission, I was out of there. There were several challenges. #1 Casual Cal was not the best emcee. As a matter of fact he was quite annoying at times and I wish he did not have the attitude to direct the mood of the crowd. With lines like "You won't get Judy Garland, Diana Ross, and so forth here" really set the tone for what type of evening we were supposed to have. #2 The Concession area was closed. Why was it closed on an event night? If there was an announcement of this prior, I probably would have chosen otherwise. #3 I felt like the staff was trying but they seemed to be all over the place. There literally was nothing to do at intermission with concessions closed and it felt like we should have never left our seats with the redirecting toward the bathroom or the center, so we left the building at intermission and did not come back. My hope is that they get it together. I will not buy another ticket unless I know in advance that concessions...

This is the most worst theater staffing I ever encountered with. For the past 4 or 5 years I have have been trying to put on a production it has failed due to STAFF ERRORS AND MISCOMMUNICATION! I recently walked in and was given a tour again and was introduced to the new director or new staff that took my paperwork 3 months ago and just now called me to say they can’t find my paperwork!!!! I got receipts that one year they took my paperwork and gave my date to another production and emailed me an apology! I’m so tired of supporting the black community with this unprofessionalism! The staff here don’t care, your production got to have a BIG NAME before they allow other people to rent it! I’m so tired of how black people run the business. And on top of it the person that calls never has a clue on nothing, no paperwork, never go get help. It’s just an empty conversation! 3 months I’ve waited for a response and all I get is…I CANT FIND YOUR PAPERWORK! They just don’t care! It’s other theaters so I’ll move on!
