Wandering Escape — Local services in Papillion

I have done my fair share of escape rooms and I have to say this one is probably the best in terms of atmosphere. The trailer we were lead into I would entirely believed once belonged to a "Mad Man" (The escape we did was called the Mad Man's Lair).

The trailer's special effects were amazing from the lighting effects to whatever the weird resin that made everything look gross. Incredible.

The story was short, but set the scene well. I truly wish I had more time to read some of the news clippings that were set up to further enhance the story.

Now why I didn't mark 5 stars? I thought our game master (the person who watches over us to make sure we don't get stuck or break anything) was a very kind and funny individual. Very helpful-- Here's the problem. Too helpful. When you pay 20 dollars for an escape room you expect to solve puzzles and find clues. At the end if you escape you feel accomplished for solving all this.

What we got instead was our game master pretty much telling us immediately what clues to find and where to look and how to use our clues. We even told the game master we only wanted hints when asked-- however the second the scenario started we were told to immediately look in the cupboards. There was no puzzle that we were able to complete by ourselves without input. Which really...

Went yesterday with 3 friends, we all had a blast! I have been to other escape rooms and thoroughly enjoyed them, but the fact that this one was in a camper made it so much more real. It was difficult, with several obstacles that stumped us. However, it made it that much better because we barely made it out (with one hint). The people running it put a lot of work into it and you could tell they took this project on because they themselves enjoy escape rooms. Wish I could rewind time and go...

I went with a group of other area escape room owners and played the Mad Man's Lair. A very well thought out conversion of a 35 foot camper into a mobile escape room. Very clever puzzles and game flow. Some of the special effects are great that cannot be recreated in a conventional escape room brick and mortar location.
