The artisan shave products market has really exploded lately. There are a lot of great products out there, but nothing for the prices that Stirling offers. I am a HUGE fan of their products and their company. Really great customer service. They take the time to answer emails, talk to you on the phone, and actually address your questions.
I realize that in this day and age of Amazon Prime shipping that we have all become quite spoiled when it comes to shipping costs. This is a "mom and pop" operation. Please don't ding them for not having free shipping on all orders. If they did, the prices would be higher. I live out in Oregon, so things take a little longer to get to me than perhaps others, but overall, I don't have an issue with the shipping. They are MUCH quicker at processing orders and getting things shipped than they were in the past, which is a huge plus.
The products I am most familiar with are the shave soap, aftershave splash, post shave balm, and bath/facial soap. I am addicted to their Bay Rum scent. It is my personal favorite. Here are some brief notes on the products I have tried:
Shave soap: Pucks are medium-soft, which makes them easy to press into your desired tin or container. They lather amazingly well. I have experimented with different brushes and have found that the lather of these soaps will change with different brushes. My favorite for these soaps is the Semogue 2000. Nice and slick shaves. Loads of cushion.
Aftershave splash: The Bay Rum is quite SPICY, which I love. Some gents may not want to feel that kind of burn, and that's fine. Overall, amazing scent. Super refreshing.
Post-shave balm: This is a great product and I haven't really found anything else out there like it. It is a truly unique balance between lotion and protective balm. I love that it doesn't just immediately absorb into my skin. It does not take a lot to cover your entire face and neck after a shave. I have discovered that it takes a little longer to "soak in" than other products, but once it does, your skin is so nice and smooth and feels like it has a layer of protection. It usually takes me at least two bottles of aftershave splash before I need to buy more post-shave balm.
Bath soap: People's bodies respond differently to soaps. It's just a fact. These soaps are great quality. The scent lasts the entire life of the bar. I have used other artisan soaps that smell great, but by the time the bar is a little over half gone, so is the scent. Not the case with these. Grocery store bar soaps like Zest or Irish Spring are VERY drying to my skin. These soaps are much less so. I can't wait to try the body butter!
Facial soap: I stopped washing my face with soap (unless it was actually dirty from something) as it would always cause me to break out. Needless to say, when I saw this product I thought I would try it. It is fantastic. It isn't just a different scent, it is a different formulation. I can wash my face with this and not worry about break outs, which for me, is a big deal.
Can't say enough about this great company and its...
Read moreI've bought online from them for a few years but stopped in while passing nearby. It was a bit weird no one acknowledge me walking in, so they probably don't get a ton of random foot traffic in the small town. No parking lot, but plenty on the street in a small town. The store was more or less a small warehouse where they stock and ship their products, but it was nice to get to smell their ever increasing variety of scents and products. The number of scents has seemed to get a bit out of hand personally, but I can't say I've come across anything that I would consider bad or misleading, just not for me, so there's probably a scent for anybody.
Their lotions and body butters are really nice and will dry well after a bit, but I personally love their post shave balms as a general moisturizer as someone who hates to moisturize, as it dries almost instantly. I'm a big fan of their lip balms and shave stuff as well. You can tell it's good quality natural stuff, and it's all relatively very affordable.
I'm not a huge coffee person, but my friend likes their coffee which they started offering more recently, and I tried a cup at 22 Brew just a block down the street and it was pretty good.
Their products are the only ones I've ever been excited about using, as someone who doesn't really care for using skin care things. I'd love to see them make some kind of...
