McVann-O'Keefe Skating Rink — Local services in Peabody

This is one of the best rinks in the North Shore area. The parking lot is extremely large with ample parking and the building is very well maintained both on the inside and outside. This rink is always very clean and organized. The staff are very friendly and welcoming when you enter through the doors. The manager (Paul) is always a huge presence at the rink. The prices are inexpensive for public skating and stick practice, especially for the time allotted on the ice. The website for this rink is very easy to navigate and their daily skating schedule posted online is always very accurate. They resurface the ice every year so you are always skating on a really nice surface. The public skate from 8:15pm-9:30pm on Friday is so much fun. Place isn’t that clean and it’s totally being mismanaged. Showed up for a game and the guy that works here asked us where our scorekeeper was. The rink is supposed to supply a scorekeeper. I’ve never been to a youth hockey game where they didn’t. The guy working apologizes and said sorry the management is bad here. A mom from the other team offered to jump and keep score.

Also, at this point most rinks allow 2 spectators +siblings. Not this rink. Parents come in from both teams and find places in the stands. We are told the game wouldn’t start until all spectators had left the building. We were told to call and complain to Paul on Monday. morning if we...

Kids roughhousing towards my friends and I, three crates and told an old man working there that we were “not sharing” a crate. We were using said crate- yet this employee came over- YELLED at a 14 year old girl, and didn’t listen when she tried to explain. I was then KICKED off the ice. For people throwing crates at us.
