We had a good experience buying a used car from Hi-Way Auto Sales. We have had a poor experience owning the car since, however. The staff was friendly, they're in a great location, the coffee was good, the financing was easy, they washed the car before we left, the car we freshly detailed, etc. Overall, it was great. I will say this though: ask to see the inspection of any car you are interested in purchasing. They made no effort to inform us of the "transmission grinding in 5th gear" scribbled on the bottom of the inspection they had on file. I noticed the noise and had to ask about it, literally pointing out the sentence hand written in the inspection. The "noise" turned out to be a bad transfer case AND rear end. So their inspection was close but dead wrong. Today I made the first payment on the car. Tomorrow I will have paid the mechanic over 2 grand in repairs. The car is a 98 Jeep Wrangler, with higher miles which we bought for 7 grand. Everyone knows a Jeep of this sort requires "tinkering" as Hi-Way Auto Sales put it, but both repairs on the Jeep we have had to do in the first 1000 miles were major repairs only doable by professional shops. Needless to say I'm in the dog house for the foreseeable future. Its my own fault for buying a car with a "noise", but I want to warn future customers of Hi-Way Auto Sales about my experience. You can't completely blame a dealer for selling you an "as-is" car that ended up having issues. But the facts are: they "inspected" the Jeep, noted a more-than-minor issue, made little effort to fully diagnose it or fix it (they flushed the tranny fluid "to no change"), made no effort to inform us of the issue before we bought it, and wouldn't negotiate on price even given the obvious problem.... But hey, the coffee was good. You...
Read moreMy first experience with Hi-Way Auto Sales. I waited until June 14, 2022, to provide non-rush review with experience of vehicle purchase sold by Trevor. 2014 Audi A7 quattro, price tag $24,995. Trevor disclosed Airbag sensor faulty, he discounted $1000. Vehicle purchased on February 3rd, 2022, for $23,995.
February 4th oil leak noticed on the ground photo taken. February 4th, vehicle inspected by Walser dealership. Tech adviser noted issues: oil leaking back timing cover area, air bag sensor hanging loose from the front behind grille. Wiring and brake caliper hose misrouted on the left front. Tires mismatched, Trevor was made aware of the mismatched tire, and fuel panel not working by me before purchasing the vehicle. Trevor mentioned mismatched tire does not cause harm for Audi A7.
I purchased four new tires from Walser, $258 per tire. Walser recommendation, have vehicle service at an import shop for Audi.
Vehicle was taken to (All Imports & Domestic) for repairs on February 5th. February 22nd vehicle repairs completed. They removed driverâs side caliper, to re-route hose and ABS wiring to correct location, cost $280. They Replaced oil separator to (stop oil leaks), coolant pipe, and degreased engine; cost $1,200. Also, Spare tire was missing
I would suggest if you were going to purchase a used car from Hi-Way, ask them to place the vehicle on a lift and inspect for oil leaks, or have a dealership mechanic inspect it before purchase.
Hi-Way Auto Sales building cleansing is great. Trevorâs overall attitude is polite. Based on my own firsthand experiences with Hi-Way, I would not be a...
Read moreWe bought a used 2018 suburban from them in the middle of May. We drove over an hour to get it. I paid $500 to hold it because i wanted to buy it. We showed up saturday morning to test drive and buy the suburban. The suburban was filthy. It was not cleaned. They took a few bucks off the sticker price because it was dirty. The also cleaned it at that point. I was told the transmission was rebuilt. We also bought the extended warranty from them. Transmission was rebuilt, but when it was reinstalled poorly. They twisted the transmission line limiting the fluid going in and out of the transmission. I have the suburban in the shop right now getting fixed. I expect a couple things wrong when you buy used. But not when I use the warranty and it still costs me 3 grand because of installationissues.. Also we traded in an explorer at the time with the loan. We got a letter in the mail from the loan company on the vehicle we traded in that we needed insurance. So I spent half the day tracking down info about the loan. When I talked to Trevor at hi-way sales he said he would dig into it. I called back and talked to his dad I believe and the said that there was no lein on the title. And the vehicle was sold off. I had brought the pay off 10 statement and gave it to them when we bought the car. Its even in our bill of sale. So they dropped the ball pretty hard on this one. Luckily the explorer was paid ahead so no effect on our credit. I understand people have a job to do. But buyer beware. I would not...
