I'm really not happy with Scamp customer service. We've ordered TWO trailers from them. The first one was totaled on the first drive out (not our fault). They didn't offer to honor our original price or move up the list. OK, fine, we paid for another trailer, waited nearly two years, and we've had nothing but problems with it. So many things were breaking or arrived broken. Very cheap materials. The latest issue is that all 4 LED tail lights went out at the exact same time, shortly after the warranty ended. We had to pay to get the mechanic to confirm it wasn't a wiring issue but rather the actual parts. The parts manufacturer agreed to pay for labor to fix this if Scamp would just give them a simple phone call to arrange payment to me via Scamp. Their customer service, namely Erica, has been blatantly refusing for months. This simple phone call costs them nothing and would save us literally hundreds, but they couldn't care less. They got their money (again) and are under no obligation to help because it is out of their warranty. Again, the refund check wouldn't even come from them. They just don't care about their customers! Only the bottom line. I explained that we just had newborn twins, started a new job, and moved across the country - please, any small help would go so far for us right now. Nope. Ignoring me. What "family values" they have. I will never give them another dime. They've let me know I am not a person to them - only a paycheck.
Also, several of the items that indeed broke during the warranty period were never truly fixed. They would just mail me some cheap parts to do it myself - even if it arrived 100% broken upon arrival: cracked interior light, unsealed fridge casing, screen door gap, bad fuse in the water heater, bent jack pole, MaxxAir fan with bad motherboard so it goes haywire beeping and shuts off if air flow is set above 30%, missing screws on the metal tree so it flaps around and scratches, lots of other little things like this - quality control was severely missing on our trailer, and they just think I have all the time and resources in the world to fix stuff myself that they failed to build properly. We have ended up having to fix all of these things ourselves, including the LED tail-lights, amidst our insanely busy schedules, which has delayed several camping trips when it takes us hours to YouTube this stuff and fiddle with it until we can DIY. Because Scamp won't actually pay for any labor in their warranty guarantee. We've probably spent 50+ hours, at least, tending to all of these crappy parts breaking in a brand new trailer. Again, horrible customer service. Only care about saving a penny at the expense of people's lives.
Update: We've reached out a few more times and given months for anyone at Scamp to give a darn. 100% ghosted. They clearly don't have a customer service damage control department. So essentially, if you buy what used to be a solid little camper but has now become over-priced and built with sub-quality plastic components, just be prepared to become a camper mechanic and never hear from Scamp again. I'm in all of the online Scamp groups, and this story seems to be common. Their quality control has plummeted since about 2019 or so, their prices jacked-up, and it's almost impossible to get true warranty work since they are stubborn about paying another dealer for labor. Unless I guess you happen to live by the 1 factory they have, say goodbye to any actual repairs. And your camper WILL come with problems, it's almost a guarantee...
Read morewe waited since September 2021 when we ordered a 16foot with alot of options. We sent our money prior to arriving to see the Scamp and salesman Wayne Pitlick suddenly tell us we need an appointment to pick-up new Scamp with changed paperwork and dates after we arrived and seemed very difficult because they did not have openings everyday nor week and needed to reschedule us several times took more than 2 weeks to get new appointment. We paid Septemeber and could not agree on pickup until November 2023. by the time we got there I felt 2 lady receptionists gave us a hard time was not very helpful with bad attitude towards me and my 3 year-old (only) although they treated my male friend nice enough with telling him he can use employee waiting room and allowing him to walkover as if he was buddies with them, was a little odd, our new Scamp had quite a bit more mud on tires than others and some defects could not all be fixed. after prepaying before we got there for our ordered Scamp. The finance was understanding and accommodating to return our money when we decided no longer wanted the Scamp because of defects and nobody where we are from can do repairs. But we had waited so long, since September 2021 paid our down payment, with plans to travel with our new camper throughout Canada and USA and was very disappointed to spoil our move and travel plans to also accommodate my 3 yo with place to sleep was the plan. so now we back to square 1 looking for a small camper to take with us.None the less my loan could also not be canceled and so incurred a $300 interest fee with our bank after we waited so long with suddenly needing an appointment for pick-up (after we wired our payment) could not be scheduled every week. plus they gave us new ball and hitch since ours did not fit and could not be returned for a refund so 1 of the receptionist suggested to sell it online was bigger price than walmarts? We now have no use for since our other large camper requires bigger...
Read moreWe bought a used 2005 Scamp and were poised to purchase a new 16 ft.We decided instead to upgrade ours to put it on the market first. In doing so we discovered a shocking lack of quality control: the fiberglass around the sink is paper-thin resin only; cabinet openings are cut free-hand as the cuts are irregular and scewed; the cabinet subfloor under the sink was cut 3/4 inch too narrow; rat- fur isn't measured with excess cut off- instead the simply glue hacked pieces to cover mistakes, lack of fabric and misalignment. The design with rat-fur near the stove and with the stove too close to the windows is lame. You have a "stove" you shouldn't use. Sink cabinet fiberglass is so thin you can literally see through it in places. I called to order a second upper cabinet and was told they needed to give me a bid? Why, I wondered when the price was listed. When the bid came through they split the cost of the door out and raised the price $100. They claimed they emailed the bid: didn't come. Claimed they called: no call. Despite being in business for decades they act as if they are still being made in someone's garage. Cabinets are ill-fitting and it appears they consider caulk to be a remedy for lack of quality control. Glad to see they corrected the flooring issue as that is a...
