The Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricultural Center is in Perry Georgia. They have a huge Fair the first two weeks in October. The weather is crisp in Fall, and perfect for outside festivities. 🙌 Friends of ours suggested that we go to the rodeo. We arrived at the Fair. I just folded some cash and stuck it in my pocket, and walked up to the gate. We were four senior citizens and they honored that at the cashier. The children purchased wrist bands, so this allowed them to ride non-stop. The Fair stays open until midnight. The first thing we saw was the livestock. We went to the antiques. I bought some pumpkin butter and refrigerator magnets and a old fashion cheese 🧀 grader. We met vendors from all over the United States 🇺🇸. There was so much to see. We loved the hats, Indian jewelry and hand made items. They had Leather crafts. You could have a picture made, like you were living in the old West. We saw paintings, posters and tee-shirt 👕 I bought a personalized license plate. We toured the RV's.They filled a huge aquarium with the cutest seals ever! That's when I met Zoe, the Seal, I photographed with.. They had trained her to jump right on your head, and they would snap the picture. It all happened so quick, all I could do was laugh. She was the most gentle creature I ever saw. My husband had roasted🍗 and 🍕 I had deep fried veggies and Lemonade. We always bought the Fair collectors cup. So much food just to name a few🌭 🍔Polish sausage, fries, Bratwurst, steak sandwiches and cotton candy and candied 🍎 Funnel cake and Elephant ears with powder sugar. Rodeo was about to begin and we wanted to get good seats. Kitty and I bought cowgirl hats 👒 to go with our 👢 boots. We enjoyed the show, beautiful horses and cowboys from all over the United States 🇺🇸 competed. It was fascinating to watch the young people handling those huge animals. They had a roping contest and were riding around barriers. Then the clowns 🤡 performed and he was so cute trying to get down in that tiny 🚗 Then another clown showed up in a 🚑 and he checked on his buddy. The grand phanally was when the lights came up, and there stood a patriotic cowboy all dressed in red white and blue performing gun tricks. He twirled the guns and was spinning them on his fingers. He was alot of fun to watch, but it did require alot of talent. The show was impressive 👏 The food was amazing, we had 🍗 🍕 and deep fried veggies and Lemonade. I will be back this year. I really enjoyed the keyboard player, who comes every year. I forgot his name but he plays old school jams and he has plenty of people dancing right out in front of the bleachers. He also takes request. Which is cool, because he can play anything. It's a good time. Enjoy the Fair. Clean restrooms 🚻 and handicap parking and a first aid station and 🏧 machines. If I remember correctly, they should be located around the clock tower. I will write more later, just wanted to bring you up to speed on the rodeo. See you in the Fall. ...
Read moreFirst and last time going. Was told by a vendor that every year is the same: same vendors, same rides, same sights all placed in the same spots of previous years. There are seating available IN THE SUN!! There were some limited seating in a few buildings. Prepare to be in the elements with A LOT of walking for the same foods sold by different vendors with different prices. We couldn't find any souvenirs with the name of the fair on it.....just randomly sold items by different vendors. The food lawyers take the cake! The food at best is mediocre. But the prices are RIDICULOUS!! At the Mayfield stand, I bought a peach cobbler with peach ice cream. Unbeknownst to me there were more peaches in my ice cream than the "peach cobbler". What I thought was crust was actually some thick gunk. When I went to one of the nearest stands they couldn't say what it was but that "it's part of the cobbler". I went back to the stand I originally purchased it from and was told "that's the cobbler". I went to the main office and was told to go to the restaurant in back owned by Cox. Showed the manager what I had. He offered me more cobbler stating he made sure to give me peaches this time. I have to admit the employees working in the restaurant were very pleasant....different than the outside vendors. I wrapped up the replacement cobbler to eat later. True there were a few more peaches than I had before. But way more of that thick gunk. And since I didn't have any ice cream there was nothing to mask the nasty taste!! I've had bad cobbler before but this was DISGUSTING!! What in the hell did I pay $6 for? Ask to SEE the cobbler BEFORE they add the ice cream. Cuz if you see this, eat it & STILL say THIS is great or even good cobbler then I want to know what you call...
Read moreAs long as you follow the rules , have no opinion and if you do definitely don’t express it , don’t ask for a refund no matter what and even if you have a miserable time just keep it to yourself, a higher up boss told me that I was too loud when asking for a refund and then she said I was welcome to leave , hell I had just paid $50 to get the 2 of us in and when I stopped to think of a polite way to speak she counted me down like a 3 year old and I had the option to keep any opinions to myself or be escorted out by security, in my defense my voice never raised and I was calm the whole time which is unlike me but to be treated as someone in the crowd that needed checked on instead of a paying customer , I wouldn’t let her run the sewage plant. You would think when patrons are spending $500 or more for the day you would like to at a minimum hear them when they speak but she is really good at cutting you off , disrespectful speaking and treating you like less of a human just because you look different. Don’t worry about banning me from your location, I won’t ever be back for anything you have going on. You can rook the tourists for everything they have , the locals will keep their money. Her attitude towards me even though I was calm ( even while in shock given her candor ) just ensures that the thousands of dollars I have spent at the fairgrounds in the last 8 months I have lived here were a complete waste and that I most definitely will go out of my way to make sure I never spend another dime in Perry ever again. Classes in customer relations would be a really wise investment and that’s from everyone around those tables...
