My daughter went into Arizona Hair Co located at 5036 W Cactus Road in Glendale, AZ on January 27th, 2019 to have her hair professionally colored for the first time. She presented a photo of the color and style that she wanted. The stylist proceeded to color her hair. The finished color of her hair was not even close to what she asked for. She had requested something called a Lilac Ombre, which is a reverse gradient from crown to the end of the hair. Her hair turned out a maroon color and appeared faded and distressed. She was charged $185 and she left the salon in tears. My daughter has very dark brown hair. I feel that any experienced stylist should have known beforehand the result when working with naturally dark hair. If this something that they were unable to provide, she should have been advised. They could have sat with her or shown her color samples with the possibility of coming to some sort of consonance or explained it could be a multistage process. She went back to the salon and requested a refund. She was told they absolutely would NOT give her a refund, but however they could strip her hair. All she asked was they return her money as she did not receive the services she paid for. She was not going allow them a second opportunity to damage her hair, let alone over process it. While she was there another stylist came over and stated that she was present during my daughter’s visit and witnessed her being extremely indecisive about what she wanted. My daughter stated that was not what happened. This was a false statement made by the other stylist. My daughter had shown the stylist a photo, knew exactly what she wanted and was assured that she was able to receive that look. Not only is this established incompetent, they also exhibited poor character when the other stylist attempted to turn blame towards the customer. I made numerous calls, to the salon and the main store requesting to speak with the District Manager or the owner. A woman by the name of Paula contacted me only ONCE on February 4th. At the time of the call I was sitting in a dentist chair and missed the call. I have not heard a word since. In my opinion, $185 is a lot of money to a young girl, aside from the fact paying $185 for a service you didn’t receive. I feel my daughter is very much be entitled to a refund, or anyone else who experience such poor service. If you value your hair or your hard-earned paycheck, I suggest you try a different salon. Went in asking for color correction, I had lightened my hair but wanted it lighter. I was quoted 160 to 180 and I was told with confidence that I would leave blonde I was told I may not be super blonde but I'll be blonde. Well I left with a multiple dark unattractive colors no where near blonde I paid 178 for a job my toddler could have done better. I was upset I called a complaint number and a woman apologized and told me to go back to the same location and they'd fix it, I told her i didn't want to go to the same person who messed it up so they scheduled me with another. I mentioned a refund and they told me let them try and fix it and we'll go from there. Welp i went in for my "redo" I was asked what I wanted i told the stylist to be blonde she said ok. I asked her if my hair was going to break off she said "no i used a low vol developer." Well when she was all done my hair was falling off she tried to tell me "thats what happens when u pull it," I wasnt pulling btw. The color came out blonde but still yellow and by all means not toned. Upon leaving I was sad that my hair was falling off and I was told to buy their products to fix the damaged they caused to my hair. Nope wasnt gonna spend more money on my hair that looks a hot mess. I called and asked for a refund, the "GM" returned my call and her demeanor right away was defensive and she told me thats what happens when you go blonde and that she can offer me a complementary haircut and 25 percent off hair products and no refund (all I want is my money back.) I was told to buy purple shampoo which was another 17 bucks which by the way turned my hair green...I've been blonde plenty of times and I have never had damage like this. So now I'm stuck with ugly "blonde" short hair that is still falling off and out $198 dollars on a job that i could have done better at home with less damge. First pic is my hair before 2nd pic is my hair after the first "color correction." Also my scalp was burned really bad, also in pics.

I came to this location hoping that a manager could help resolve a serious issue caused by another stylist at a sister salon. What I received instead was more damage, poor judgment, and ongoing dismissal of my experience from every level of leadership — including the owner. On June 15, manager Rittani acknowledged that the stylist used the wrong toner and didn’t properly lighten my hair. She took photos of the damage, gave me a conditioning treatment, and told me to wait a few weeks for the color to “brighten.” This was after I had already undergone nearly 10 hours of chemical processing in less than a week. My hair was already fragile, but by then it was brittle, dry, shedding, and lifeless. Shockingly, Rittani recommended more coloring, instead of pausing chemical services and suggesting repair or rest. As a licensed manager, this was an irresponsible and unsafe choice. I later learned that the District Manager agreed I deserved a refund, but said only the owner, Michelle, could approve it. I followed up multiple times, and Michelle avoided contact for several days. When she finally did respond, she offered only a partial refund, claiming that because I liked my haircut, they didn’t owe me more. What she failed to acknowledge I will now have to get another haircut to cut the damage off that they created. To add insult to injury, the original stylist Paige — whose mistakes led to all of this — has now been promoted. This experience was not just inconvenient — it was emotionally exhausting. I came in already managing grief, travel, and stress, hoping to feel better. I left feeling defeated, frustrated, and worse off than when I started. This salon — and its leadership — failed me. And based on how they handled it, I believe they’ll fail others too. Proceed with caution.
