My wife and I decided to get out on a weekend afternoon and chose to head to the Maricopa County Home Show in Glendale. As soon as we walked into the Glendale stadium we were met with extremely aggressive vendors.
We had people jumping into our path shoving business cards and samples into our faces, vendors screaming sales pitches for landscaping or showers at us and when we stopped to look at anything vendors wanting to get our names, numbers and email addresses just because we stopped to look.
The entire show was like running a gauntlet trying to avoid pushy sales people. We walked the entire top level of the stadium feeling attacked and pressured to take a card, check out a sample, sign up for this, give us your information for that, and by the time that we made it to the main floor, we simply wanted to get out of there.
We saw a few things downstairs that caught our interest but by then we were done and so over it all.
Such a shame. We overheard vendors discussing how many "leads" (whatever that means) and how many people they booked for sales while taking the escalators. It wasn't about giving people information... it was about getting people's information so they could call, text or email and harass people for sales. As a show goer this was both enlightenening as to how things worked from the vendors point of view and discouraging as a patron at the same time.
If vendors simply let us come up, get information and ask questions, we might have actually decided to give them a call and do business with them...
Basically... We will never attend another Maricopa County Home Show ever again. It was a...
Read moreI am a long time vendor of the Home Shows and we recently had a very bad experience with them. Our account manager Chris was rude and had horrible customer service, they refused to work with us or make changes, and the Home Show Manager Katie was even worse. We were told on multiple occasions we couldn't change booths or downsize because it was "too late in the game". Yet they didn't hesitate to sell our booth out from under us to another vendor then offer us a resign in another location. The only time they would make a change was to benefit them.
The Home Show Manager Katie was contacted multiple times via phone and email with no response. I did a charge back on my credit card for the charges and big surprise Katie appeared and got involved in the situation. If she would have acted like a manager and got involved much earlier in the process things could have been resolved and different.
We will never do business with them again and I suggest the same to everyone...
Read moreThis was my first time to one of these shows so didn't know what to expect but I took my 9 yr old grand daughter and my dad and I'm so glad I did as my dad found great deals for solar panels! My grand daughter had so much fun looking at all the awesome exhibits that kept giving us free gifts and she got so much candy she joked it felt like Halloween, everyone was so happy and friendly especially the staff and security! We did fun crafts, sampled delicious pickles, toured some absolutely incredible tiny homes and the seminars were so informative we really appreciated them and the huge variety of vendors! For so much going on it was extremely organized so very easy to navigate and we loved the guides which had coupons that we used! The only con was the expensive food that wasn't that great but I did learn the food is controlled by the venue (WestWorld) and not the fault of the Home Show. We can't wait for the next show in July! I...
